Please make an endura/pacific salt in lc200n

#1

Post by swidgen »

So, I'm the opposite of a knife collector. I try to be as minimalist as possible. I have i fixed blade for camping canoe trips, my trusty delica FFG that is my faithful EDC which comes with me everywhere. But I also do a lot of traveling, backpacking and I Have an H1 Pacific salt that is what I take with me. I use it for snorkling/ocean stuff but also all other items, cutting fruit and food and everything else. the problem is I need the straight blade and the hollow grind makes the blade too thick and needs too much sharpening when I'm on the road for months and months at a a time. An endura/pacific salt with a thinner blade and FFG is exactly the knife i need. Please, please consider this

100 % yes.... if there will also be a (ffg) serrated version. A knife I'd want sooo much (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=87153#p1437084)...
Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

100% agreed! The Endura is the knife I carry most and the Pacific Salt 2 SE gets a lot of pocket time as well. But, I would really love FFG LC200N Endura Salts (with the liners and pointier tip) and Pacific Salts (linerless).

I think LC200n would need to be made in Golden, unless Spyderco can get the Japanese makers on board with using it. Would a Salt version of the Native Chief be a reasonable substitute?

I’m pretty sure that if it’s made in Golden, it won’t be an Endura. IIRC, Sal once stated on the other Spyderco forum that all Seki models would remain Seki-made and not be moved to Golden, as a proper courtesy/respect to the Seki makers for having helped Spyderco get its start.

There has been talk for quite awhile about using LC200N in the Seki Salt series with Toxic Green FRN. I believe I remember someone saying Eric confirmed this at one of the shows. Perhaps it is just taking time to get the maker in Seki up to speed with working with LC200N. Eric has done a great job in getting some other popular US steels into production over there with Cruwear, S30V, S90V, S35VN, etc and other imported steels like M390 and K390. I think we will see it eventually in the Seki Salt lineup either as a large sprint run or perhaps even a full production alternative to H1, but not replacing H1.

I love my native salt (even if I did put it in a g10 body). So any more user lc200n models sound good to me.
Lightly insane.

I missed that, thanks.

i'm pretty sure there is a photo of a prototype of a pac salt in ffg lc200n somewhere on this forum. i'm guessing sal is the only person in the world with the knife you're requesting.

I have to imagine they are doing everything they can to bring this to market. So many people are asking for an FFG Pacific Salt. Just like a Para 3 and PM2 Salt in LC200N have to be in the works. The demand for these would be crazy.

Could you cough a little louder please. LOL You are so on point with this. Seems like a logical immediate solution as well as being a bit more elegant.

When the lc200n Pacific Salt is released my days of checking forums multiple times a day in search of the perfect folder may be over. A decade long quest at last complete.

FRN Siren in SE would be a perfect alternative, right!
