Same Same but different.

I own the Delica wharncliffe so probably will not be getting a rock jumper as the knives are very similar.

Am I missing something or are they similar enough to have one or the other.

it seems to me that people would prefer one or the other and not need both. i think you get a small amount of extra blade with the rockjumper, the blade is closer to the handle, and the handle is far more neutral.

but... let's be real... need doesn't exactly drive our knife purchases around here.

Depends on how well the Delica fits your hand, and how important it is for you to not have snag points between the handle and edge. For me the Delica is pretty much obsolete after this knife comes out.

I have put off several models, waiting for this one.

Gotta maintain some semblance of a knife budget. But, this one is at the top of the list for the reasons you stated.

This is basically a non-Salt, Mini Caribbean with a Backlock.

Will the initial release be both PE and SE?

I may have to buy both. I'm actually more excited about this one than I've ever been for a non-choil design.

From what I've heard, both.

Thank you for the insight to the design Sal. I never had a complaint about the Delica or the Endura with regards to their size or handle fitment to my grip. The Endela just doesn't seem to fill any void for me. That being said, I love the edge length vs blade length of the Resilience and Tenacious so the concept of the Rock Jumper immediately "jumped" at me. I'm extremely excited to get the SE version in my hands and into use when they drop.

I think that I want the Rock Jumper more than I want the Stretch... Simply because it's role in my carry would compete with the PM2, and the Stretch in that regard seems duplicative. The Rock Jumper however appears to be a knife that will be better suited for different things, especially scoring and draw cutting, and the additional utility makes it easier to justify purchasing. Especially if we see it in K390.

I do think that the Rock Jumper more closely compares to the Stretch 2 than it does the Delica 4

Looking forward to it. I also really want a leaf jumper.

I hope there will be a bigger version.

Ignoring the whole kick being wasted space argument, which doesnt really bother me. The delica and endura would basically be perfect knives for me but I do not like their handles. I really wish spyderco would have a second handle option for those knives. A jumper family might be the closest thing to that.

If you give a Spydieholic a Rock Jumper, he will probably want a Leaf Jumper XL. :D I'm with you though. If I like the ergos of the Rock Jumper, i'd probably want a bigger Endura sized one with a leaf blade. I carry the Endura most days and I don't have any real complaints, but I'm always open to try new things.

And if you give me a Leaf Jumper XL, i'm probably going to want an FFG TiCN coated LC200N Leaf Jumper XL Salt in Toxic Green FRN!

Hi Sal---

When you stand before the pearly gates, I doubt that shameless promotion is something for which you'll be held accountable. Really looking forward to the Rock Jumper in SE.

Hi Sal,

But i like the Rockjumper design and will soon get one.

So what good is a sales pitch without some kind of hint for when they're shipping out to dealers?

To me, this is the best new design to come out since the P4LW. I've been looking for an FRN alternative to my Yojimbo, yet something about the Delica just doesn't feel right. I really love the idea of the blade extending all the way to the handle on the Caribbean, but I find the knife too bulky, I've developed a certain dislike for open-backs, and the handle color is far too vibrant for me.

The Rockjumper promises to give all the features I'm looking for in a single package. Very excited for this one.

All the designs that work best in my hands are Sal designed and the backlock is my thing so I'm in when they become available. Looking forward to it.
