I like that there's going to be reruns of this model. I'm going to pass on it, but hopefully with it not being an elusive unicorn like the Para 3 was, more easily available over time...we'll get some feedback on how that coating holds up in use. I've always wondered how scratch resistant this stuff is.

I also think it's good that they're planning to re-run it. The ill-feeling that some of the recent drops created is a thing to be avoided. I'm passing on this one as well but not because I don't think it's cool, I just don't need it. The PVD is definitely the most interesting thing about this one!

I’m happy to see reruns too. There’s obviously demand, and I really don’t care about the flipper profiteers. People have forgotten what made things collectible in the first place; the key component is TIME. Time for many of the items to be used, lost, broken, used up, etc. such that the items which remain in good shape with original packaging truly are rare and desirable. Merely trading on limited production and high demand creates false value. It’s the BUY IT NOW I MUST HAVE IT FOMO instant gratification ripping through our culture. How about enjoying the ride? A years-long search to build a collection. It’s a journey, not a sprint.

So yes, make reruns as long as the model sells, and yes, please keep making new dealer exclusives that people want! Then users and accumulators can get the knives they want, and hopefully the flipper profiteers will be stuck with their inventory, eventually having to sell below retail to move their knives.

I’ve often wondered why you don’t see more rerun exclusives.

I don't think exclusive reruns are a bad idea. I mean, look at Bento Box exclusives, been on the market since who knows when, but their value doesn't drop considerably far from what BBS sells them (PM2/Para 3 K390, PM2/Para 3 M390, etc). This also gives us overseas buyers a chance to get one without having to wait for ungodly hours fighting for a spot at a drop because of the time difference.

The pvd coating is really the only reason I'm interested. And knowing there will be multiple runs makes me much more likely to actually use the knife and find out how it holds up, rather than baby it. Wish it was a manix, though!

Because then all of us asking for the Military, Manix, Yojimbo, etc in this combo would have to wait until 2025 before the PM2/Para 3 demand has died down before we see them. If St Nick's did this we never would have seen the Native LW or Lil Native. If BHQ did this there never would have been a Dodo, Manix XL, Lum Tanto, or other less popular models.

I agree! This would be an awesome time to really test if the PVD will hold up much better than Spyderco's DLC.

+1 on the Manix too... Manixes are kinda like my beater Spydies. :)

I'm more into the FRN knives these days but I had to pick one up to check out the PVD. The PM2 is growing on me again though after carrying the Cru-ple PM2 this week.

Yeah I’m surprised these didn’t sell out in a couple minutes. I think doing the surprise drop helped keep the flippers and bots away. Also the fact that they’re going to do multiple drops. I was glad to hear that because I wanted one to use, not to sell.

Yep. Some people will miss the drop and be upset. But there will be other runs. And this way has the added benefit of keeping their server from crashing.

Im about pm2d out. But this one had the looks and a great steel so I went with it. Time to go read about 204p.

Also curious about the coating.

The bots could still grab them because the product page was up. The bots just refresh and wait for the "add to cart" button and then begin their automated checkout procedure. DLT actually did it right with the "waiting room" as that should hypothetically prevent the bots from spamming the product page. DLT just didn't have the server capacity for that drop.

The "ongoing exclusive" though should definitely discourage flippers. Who is going to be impatient enough to buy this on the secondary market for even a $50 markup when you know more are going to be available at retail?

I will definitely be using mine to test out the PVD. I would have had a hard time using the Para 3 being they are selling for $550 on eBay and REC did confirm there will be no more Para 3s in that exact configuration to keep them special.
