I'd have to pass on a all black Salt unless it was the hawkbill. The D'fly is my most collected pattern so I would probably buy one if it happened. I don't mind coated blades, but it offers little added value IMO.

Puzzled by the fact that a couple people need the dragonfly to be more discreet. I mean, it's a dragonfly.

Welcome to our forum.

We have no immediate plans, but we'll watch the thread.

To each their own. I sometimes carry a Dfly as a primary where blades greater than 2.5 inches long are illegal to possess. Both for personal style and to avoid attention, I'd rather not have a yellow chunk of plastic sticking out of my pocket. I have a PE black handled VG-10 Dfly2 as well as SE Salt. With a black Lil Native clip on it, the PE is pretty close to invisible on dark colored pants, but I much prefer the SE blade in H-1 for how I use this knife. Sure, I could Rit dye the Salt, but A) for some outdoor use I like having the yellow B) I carry AIWB sometimes and I don't want to worry about color transfer and C) I'd rather buy what I want and not have to mess with it.

I'm actually ambivalent on the coated blade, but the with the new Salt CQI black coated hardware a blacked out version would be no extra reach and it seems like there are a lot of fans of the black blades.

It's probably not a need thing, but as seen above, it sure looks good.

It may be that way for some. But for me, I just enjoy the look/feel of a coated blade. I don’t need the scales/bevel coated by any means, had you been referring to my comment. It was simply an exaggeration that stems from the lack of all black options we currently have.
I was pleasantly surprised to find black coating everywhere (that made sense) when I opened my new Pacific Salt recently. I bought it as a backup when they were discontinued. I always wondered; why stainless pivot/scale screws on a knife with a black handle/black pocket clip/black pocket clip fastener/black blade?

Bumping this one back up, given further discussion of Dflys with black hardware and non-yellow salts in various threads. If you're interested, please chime in and let Sal know! Hopefully there's enough interest to make this happen.

I love DLC and love my DFly salts.

I'd be ALL in for several blacked out Dfly Salts.

All Salt models should be offered in all black, like the Salt 2 and Pacific.
The Native Salt and Dragonfly Salt would be darn good looking in all black.

Always wondered why one would need a rustproof blade with a coating. It looks good, but really serves no other purpose. Well, maybe to reduce the surface scratching of h1, but even then, it is just aesthetic. Plus, an all black dull knife vs a colorful bright shiny knife around water, give me the bright colorful shiny one. Having said that, it would be something I would seriously consider purchasing. It is just simply really good looking.

Well, we are asking for a new version (all black) not to replace the existing one.
I believe there's market for both versions.
One aspect of coated blades that I never see mentioned as a positive thing is glare reduction for your own eyes (not the classical tactical low profile stuff).

i’d love a coated df2 salt. i’d even take it in a yellow handle with coated blade and hardware. it would give me an excuse to get a pe salt in h1, which i’ve been wanting to try.

fwiw, already having a df2, i hadn’t planned on ever buying another and would opt for a lil native instead. this is probably the one thing that would definitely change my mind and have me buying both another df2 and a lil native.

When the LC200N Dragonfly becomes a reality maybe we can get all black then.

Yellow handle is the only reason why I skipped Dragonfly Salt. Would buy black one immediately!
