Give The Spyderedge A Chance Thread

#1

Post by JD Spydo »

Without any argument or well crafted debate Spyderco is without any shred of a doubt is the "King Of Serrated Blades". And there isn't really even a cutlery company that is even a close second as of yet IMO. And I doubt if many serious Spyderco fans would argue that for one second.

When I first developed into a super devout Spyder-Head ( mid 90s to early 2000s) Spyderco offered most all of their models in SE & PE both. But over time and due to high demand for plain edges there are now so many Spyderco models from about 2006 till now that were never offered in SE for whatever reason. The ULIZE is one that immediately comes to mind as well as the C-111 Captain model I know deep in my gut would both have been super models in SE>> Sad to say there many great Spyderco models over the years that were not given the chance to be offered in SE for whatever reason.

So tell us which models that you wish would have been or should now be given the chance to be offered in Spyderedge? Some of the models that come to my mind on top of the ones I just mentioned are the Superhawk, Breeden RESCUE, Chinook III.

There are about two dozen models that I'm 98% certain would be big winners at the box office if they were made available in SE. Which models do you all want in SE that were never made available in SE? Also any thoughts on Sprint Run SE models?

SE:

- Certainly the Endura (regular, not wharnie) ffg or alternatively a Pac Salt 2 ffg (in LC 200N).
You probably have noticed my thread (viewtopic.php?t=87153&start=20) where I asked Sal if there´d be any chance for that or not, but he has not replied yet

- A Chaparral in SE must be an amazing cutter too with its uniquely thin 2mm stock ffg blade!

- And of course the Manix 2 LW - tall, 3.2 mm blade, BD1N steel (that obviously works well in serrated kitchen knives) - would be great in SE (did a poll on this once viewtopic.php?t=86371&start=40)

- And finally the Stretch - regardless if straight spine or "regular": Great cutting geometry, with "teeth" it would be even better (and maybe give it a thinner blade, like delica-ish 2.5mm instead if the current 3 mm)

No arguments from me :D

Oh ...I missed the question part. I think absolutely #1 on my list to get SE is the Ulize. I really think that knife would dominate if it had serrations. I'd also be in for a Sliverax.

PREACH !!!

Well, as you and I always agree, the Ulize is one that just defies all logic for me to not make an SE version.
The SuperHawk (and SuperLeaf as well while we're at it)
Police4 - Any variant
Manix, ANY Manix, 2, LW, XL, whatever (and yes I'm ignoring combo edge and the 154cm from a decade ago)
Anything from the Stretch2 family

There are a bunch more but I need more coffee first...

The Siren should be available in SE. It seems like it is made for it.

For me SE could very well be the default option and we´d discuss here which models should additionally come in PE.... :D

The Siren should definitely come in SE. I’d also like to see a full SE Military or PM2 in 52100 or Cruwear. I haven’t handled a Native Chief yet but that would also be a good candidate for SE in a tougher steel.

I’m disappointed in myself for not coming up with this first... but I’m even more disappointed that it took so long for someone to say it :D

Gotta agree with Wart...though I'd prefer the G10 version (Julia and I were SO close to convert him to the G10 model!) But an SE Manix in BD1N would be a great knife.

So close! ;) But I agree, any flavor of SE Manix would get my attention.
