Sounds a lot like an idea I brought up in the past and was pretty much shot down!

https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=84233
Yeah, I hear what you are saying.

I think if I read it correctly, your idea was to just get a small batch made for Forum members exclusivley.

My plan differs from yours, in that I want the full run to go ahead, but we do your plan immediatley in front, and a bolt on.

So the production number is 1300, and there are 80 forum members wanting one, and ten wanting 2, then all forum members upfront pay, and that run goes out first, and then the full production comes out.

There are probably a few people on here that would have social media channels with a reasonable following, and could promote the knife before they hit the stores...

If this one isn't a Forum Knife I don't know what is. :)

Exactly my thinking. Sell it through SFO webshop.

I would happily pre-pay and then wait for the production.

I also whould pre-order and pre-pay if Spyderco whould also ship such exklusives/forum knives directly to Europe.

Don't misunderstand I'm for a free and open to All forum.
But how about a membership fee for those who want forum knives/exclusives and if the models doesn't fit they become a "standard" model for a good price?

Sal, why not proclaim this officially a Forum Knife, and sell it through SFO webshop? After all, it's been set up here, guided by David.

I wouldn't need any etching or anything on the knife (definitely not on the blade!). A certificate or so would do.

What do you think?

Probably because it would limit the sales.

I hope it’s just a standard sprint or production piece.

But, this isn’t a forum knife because this was set up as a budget Damasteel blade for our UK peeps. This apparently had input from a British Forum as well.

Avoiding additional etching on the blade would be my preference.

Yes. As far as I am aware, there are inly a couple of UK distributors and both are online.

I am guessing HH will get them, but I am terrified of the mark up. I have no idea what the knife will cost in the US, let alone after import and mark up.

I’m on the other side of the planet, so I have to buy from dealers that will ship.

this thread has inspired me to order some additional damasteel for some hopeful spyderco reblading...
