Will the Ronin 2 get an upgrade to BD1N?

Anyone know whether they plan on upgrading the steel in the Ronin 2 from BD1 to BD1N?

I certainly hope so.

I'd love to see Spyderco transition all the BD1 models to BD1N. In my comparative uses (Manix 2 LW mostly) the difference has been substantial.

If I recall correctly, Sal mentioned some time ago that BD1N would be gradually replacing BD1. If that’s the case, it seems like it would be a possibility for the Ronin 2.

I've been holding off on buying the Ronin 2 in the hopes that it would get BD1N. I just hope it doesn't get discontinued.

+1 on both!

I'd certainly get a Polestar for example if it was upgraded to BD1N!

And while the BD1 in my previous Manix was ok-ish, but did not really impress me, the BD1N in my current one does.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

This is great to hear! I certainly hope to see more of them crop up. However, out of curiosity, what did you have to get one replaced for?

I'd like to see one in K390, and I'd like to see the Street Beat come back for a run in K390 too.

Hey, All:

Thank you for your continued enthusiasm for the Ronin 2.

I just checked with our warehouse and they confirmed that all the Ronin 2s on the shelf are CTS BD1N.

Wishes do come true...

Stay safe,

Mike

The older original Ronin 2 had issues with the sharp edges on the ricasso and the way the old sheath was molded; the two just wouldn't play nice. You'd have to pry the sheath open to get the knife to snap into the sheath. It would take three hands to "re-holster" the knife.

I took both over to the SFO and Michael G. gave both a good hard look. He tried new knives in the old sheath and the old knife in new sheaths-all the combinations. He found issues with both the original sheath and the knife that none of the newer ones had, so he replaced both.

That's what I call Customer Service!

Did you buy it from SFO or from a retailer? I'm just wondering if the stock out there in 'the wild' has updated to BD1N.

It was a retailer, but not recently. I guess if you're looking for one with BD1N you could always ask a retailer what they've got.

Got one about a month ago and it came with the BD1N, sharpest knife I ever received from the factory. Incredible!

I got mine from a retailer.
