Unfortunately, bolsters and options requiring liners are out of the the question.
Would you like to suggest something different?
It would have to be a contoured Ivory Micarta, with some snazzy bits and bobs on it. I'll buy, if it's a looker(I really like the custom white one posted in the other thread)
If it's drab and needs to be rehandled, I don't have the contacts to have it done, nor the tooling to do it myself. I'd be out.
Having a Damasteel blade, lockbar and backspacer would help.

But what about steel handles? Would they be a cost driver?

I'd suggest doing something that will allow easy aftermarket scales. That way if it's a lower cost option, people will be able to swap on aftermarket scales to customize.

From what people are saying, the aftermarket scales options are quite limited, or too much hassle for some people, so the trick is trying to find a nice happy medium.
Thats what I am hoping to achieve on this thread, so I can get 10 options together for a vote, narrow it to 3 and do a final vote.

Ok. So, I am going to start a poll soon as to the handles.
If the poll is close, then I will pick the main 3 and repoll, as I really want as many people to be as happy as possible.
I have listed some of the ideas on the opening post here, and want to hear from as many as you as possible for ideas.
Quite a lot of people like the idea of ivory G10, and I quite like it. Carbon fibre seems popular too, but everyone wants a different version of it, so we would need to agree.
Some people are pushing for bolsters, liners or scales that will require liners, different lock material etc.. This means a redesign, product testing and massive costs, which will just tank the project and noone gets anything. Sal has made this fairly clear. These suggestions will therefore not be in the poll.

....
I am not particularly interested in this model, so I did not vote on the blade shape and won´t vote on the handle material.
Still I just wanted to give you credit for your commitment and the way you conduct these threads / polls!
Hope you guys will get "the perfect" Damascus UKPK! :)
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Thank you for the kind words.
I am doing my best here, but it is hard to try and be as democratic as possible, but keep it all on track.
You are doing a very good job imho! :) I am sure it will be worth while and result in a great knife.

Well ok, I'm also changing to steel handles. Please make them an option in your poll.

I've been checking each day. Personally I think that steel would add weight. Ti would add cost. Both are possible, but I question the weight. My leaning is for ChrisinHove's original suggestion for formed ivory G-10, but I'll continue watching.

Jumped out of my skin.
Speak of him, and he appears.
You are always watching it seems. :D
Yeah, I am also heavily into the ivory G10 idea that was suggested. Both Spydergirl88 or ChrisinHove suggested it.
I guess I am asking what the cost will be to put titanium handles on, but isnt their another thread on here asking for another Ti run?

Yes, There is another thread asking for Ti. Hard to estimate costs until we get down to what is wanted. Cost estimates take time, which is a limited quantity at Spyderco these days. Formed Ti is expensive s it is not easy to machine and finish.

Sure steel would add weight. It has been used on some Delicas and Enduras though - would you not do it again now if you had known when these two were in preparations? Me personally I wouldn't mind extra weight if the whole package looks and feels good in my hand. Which steel would do, I imagine.
Then again I'm a big BIG sucker for titanium... From haptics point of view it is always my first choice of them all. Just need to make sure this Damasteel UKPK remains affordable.
