Byrd for newb?

#1

Post by sotyakr »

Since I seem to be our department's designated gadget nut, one of my new co-workers was sent to me asking about knives and where to get one. She's not a knife knut, probably never will be, and I think even $40+ would be out of the question, especially as us animal trainers don't make a ton of $$$. Anyway, I showed her my Native, and demonstrated it's handling qualities then mentioned the Byrds, and how they might be good way to go for less than $20. Figured I should point her this way instead of your basic cheapo Bucks, CRKT's etc. Am I steering her right?

If she can't afford a Spyderco by all means steer her to the Byrd. They rate with the Kabar Doziers and Benchmade Pikas in the same price range.

Thanks for the feedback! I printed some info from NewGraham's site, and she seemed to be very interested in them. The Byrds really do look nice for relatively few $$, and I'll be anxious to check it out if she orders one.
