What Is Your Favorite Go-To Spyderco?
I would have to say my favorite Spyderco go-to is the Native 5 Salt. It is my first Native and I just love the ergos and the choil. It has a perfect leaf shape and the spine has the perfect geometry curve across from end to end. I once read that it was designed for Walmart, but the knife became a cult favorite and many other iterations came after.
I did some data mining in the forum and apparently the PM2 and Manix2 are the crowd favorites here. I am curious how the Lil' Native compares to DF2 in carrying. I may have to pony up for the Lil' soon. :)

Manix 2 for me. :)
Re: What Is Your Favorite Go-To Spyderco?
I'm not really sure what you mean by "favorite go-to" spyderco, but I keep an all black SE compression lock Lil Native in a dump tray on my desk. If I'm not carrying anything else in particular that day, it's like 2nd nature to just grab the Lil Native to use.

What strength is Rex 45? Is it highly corrosive resistance? I hear Maxamet is very strong, but rusts easily.

Re: What Is Your Favorite Go-To Spyderco?
Maxamet doesn't rust that easily. I live in a desert, where it's not much of an issue, but I've had a Maxamet Manix 2 for years with no rust issues.
I prefer 4v to Rex 45, but they're both pretty good, and the Rex 45 is a lot easier to find at the moment.
Rex 45 holds an edge quite well, but is also a carbon (non stainless) steel.

I carry a SE Pacific Salt every day, no matter what I’m doing. Definitely my go-to Spydie.

Haha. Pretty much the entire Golden Line up, and most of the salt series.
Shaman
Native chief
Military
Pm2
Manix 2
Native 5
Just about anything from the salt series.
And yet I still buy more?

In my experience Maxamet holds an edge better and is more resistant to corrosion than Rex 45. I live a few hundred feet from the ocean and have never had either rust but Rex 45 is considerably more reactive to my sweat than Maxamet. Spyderco does an amazing polished stonewash on their Maxamet blades which probably adds to its corrosion resistance.marshmallow wrote: ↑Wed May 27, 2020 7:01 pmWhat strength is Rex 45? Neither are stainless and will patina over time if care isn't taken.
Edit: My favorite go to :spyder: is whichever one is in my pocket.

Re: What Is Your Favorite Go-To Spyderco?
For me it varies, but almost always, it's one of these three:
1. Autonomy 2
2. Police 4 (G-10 & K390)
3. Manix 2 in Maxamet
At the moment it's No. 3. :)

UKPK in S110V - despite a pretty sizable collection of Spyderco and other great knives, this is the one I always find in my pocket. I started carrying it when I was in the UK for several months and I just fell in love with its simplicity and weight.

My beloved GB1. It’s just right. From the blade shape to blade steel, it checks all the boxes for me.
Wanted: M4 PM 2 or manix M4.

Re: What Is Your Favorite Go-To Spyderco?
Used to be the PM2, but it is the Shaman more and more these days -- the Rex 45 is a particular favorite, but the M4 sees a lot of use.

Re: What Is Your Favorite Go-To Spyderco?
My favorite is the one I choose to carry that day. I carried my basic blue VG-10 Delica yesterday. I have nicer Delicas but still enjoy that blue FRN one. Today I carried KC exclusive CTS-XHP Manix 2 LW. Tomorrow it'll be the Native 5 LW REX 45. Already have it sitting on my desk with the HAP40 Manbug. Burnt Orange for me tomorrow lol

I carry a Roadie on my keychain plus whatever else suits me. But I always carry a Manix 2 LW when out walking for exercise.

I just love my Spyderco fixed blades, but cannot legally carry them off property in Illinois. The laws here are nonsense.
I cannot wait to receive the Yojumbo that much I will tell you. I'll probably carry that knife every day. It looks great!
