Just counted 67 of these on the auction site that are for sale or sold...
the price is coming down from when they were first on ebay.I guess most people that want one bad have got one.
True, I have tracked 74 that have sold with an average sold price of $286.88, lowest price sold was today (6/15/2020) $232.50. There are 28 for sale.
So 102 knives being flipped out of the total sold.

Interesting a lot of DLT Manix 2 Red M390 knives for sale ahead of the re-release of that knife.

Wait, the para 2 at DLT is being released again? I thought it was just the manix 2?

That's a lot of knives but a relatively low percentage out of the 1000+ that were sold. If the retailer had allowed each purchaser to buy 2 knives instead of 1, there would probably have been 204 knives going through auctions. If those 102 scalpers had not bought those knives, that's another 102 enthusiasts that could have gotten the knives.

There were a good number of these scalped on other online forums too.

The good news is that they're all driving down each other's prices. It's simple supply and demand.

Considering what else is on the market brand new between $300 and $500 dollars, and what you typically get for blade steel with them, a PM2 in CPM-4V at these prices is still an extraordinary value.

It wont be long before all of those are sold through and then the prices will start climbing.

The prices will go up and stay high for awhile, until someone brings out new models in better steels. There was similar fury when the M390 and 204 models came out, now years later those are old hat and 4V is the new star.

Agreed but I'm not sure what might come down the pipe anytime soon in the niche that 4V sits. It seems to supplant CPM-M4.

M4 isnt the toughest steel, but of the tough steels it has had the best edge retention. M4 appears to have slightly more wear resistance than CPM-4V, but 4V is harder and stronger at the apex. Edge retention differences will come down to what media is being cut, but 4V I'd think would just generally hold up better in use.

On the edge retention front, there's a list of steels that we can hope to see, but I'm not aware of any specific steel with better edge retention that's as tough.

We might be debating the differences between M4, 4V, and REX-45 for awhile.

I've experienced a bit better wear resistance/edge retention on both my 4V Manix and Shaman than on my M4 knives I have/had (Para 3 and GB2) I totally agree how quickly M4 sharpens though. Still a top steel in my eyes, even with all the new fancy stuff that's been coming out the past few years.

I can't comment on sharpening 4V yet because both knives after a week of warehouse duties followed by intentionally trying to dull the blade bit, still won the fight and only "needed" a couple swipes on the fine rods and a couple passes on the strop. No sharpening needed yet
15 :bug-red 's in 10 different steels
1 - Bradford Guardian 3 / Vanadis 4E Wharnie
1 - Monterey Bay Knives Slayback Flipper / ZDP 189
1 - CRK Small Sebenza 31/Macassar Ebony Inlays
1 - CRK Large Inkosi Insingo/ Black Micarta Inlays
1 - CRK Small Sebenza 31 Insingo/Magnacut

In my experience & testing, both 4V and Rex45 have better edge retention and better toughness than M4.

I agree, it might take awhile. I remember the excitement generated by M390 and 204. Then Spyderco released production models in S110V.

I don't know why there was such excitement for 4V, and wonder if it was the steel or the color combination. I don't doubt that it is a good steel but I don't recall that much interest in M4. Now we have others out there- Rex45, K390, Rex121, others that I don't know of. I'd like to see more models in these steels. I think at some point there will be more models in all of these steels to satisfy the demand but I don't know when that will be.
