Because the
backlock CBBL is proven superior all around by knife experts!

I’m guessing it's at least partially to keep costs on the lower side, and maybe partially due to limitations of the manufacturers. Have any budget line/Chinese-made spydies had comp locks?
Edit: Whoops, just realized Sal said the new design is for Golden. So a comp lock would be possible. But Golden does make excellent back locks...
I know you were mistaken and edited but just so it’s stated, if anything making it a backlock would make it more expensive. Looking at the Golden knives and disregarding other differences like liners and such, the G10 Native is more expensive than the PM2, which is more expensive than the G10 Manix. I would think keeping it a liner lock or making it a Compression Lock would make it less expensive than a back-lock variation.

Yea this is so close to my imagined perfect Spyderco... the Polestar with a comp lock. So close
I thought it would be pretty great too, it would be like a Golden made Caribbean, which would be epic.
