I believe Sal has said that the Police lightweight is going to be a part of the Endura family K390 production

You probably won't find K390 any better.
Stainless steels have been pretty scarce in the Seki models, although with the recent CPM S90V Delica exclusive I suppose it is possible. What premium steel were you hoping for?

In terms of corrosion resistance, Rex45 & K390 are quite similar, as are other tools like 4V. I life in the Pacific Northwest where it's wet, humid, or both pretty much all year, and if you treat your tool steels properly, you'll have zero issues. I wipe my liners down with a silicone gun cloth, properly lube my pivot/washers, and keep a small dot of mineral oil on each side of my blade, smoothed out to just be a very thin coating, it's quick, easy, and you should be in good shape... in my experience, if you treat tool steels like, well, tool steels, you'll have zero issues no matter where you live. I've got a Para3 from the first Rex45 sprint run that was my main EDC for well over a year, and with the aforementioned care, I have had no problems at all.

Cheers,

John

There is also an m390 delica.

There was talk about SRS13 stainless steel sprint run in whole Endura family, and it is possible that Police 4 will also get a sprint run

Regardless if it's stainless or not, if you take care of it before and after use...rust SHOULDN'T be an issue. Though I understand there are exceptions and people's bodies sweat composition is different.

I know these days I prefer a non stainless steel over stainless. I find better results in use, wear resistance, ability to sharpen or touch up to crazy sharpness. 3 years ago I never would have said that!

I've carried a lot of folders over the years. No longer sweating in SWA but don't want to have to worry about corrosion from riding around in the pocket. My sweat is probably more acidic than most.

How is k390 compared to M4, corrosion?

It's a balance. I don't sharpen my knives every week like a used too. Different when I was killing time in the barracks. Just saying.

We already have a P4 scheduled for K390 in regular production. We don't know if the steel will support a serration. ZDP would't effectively.. We're testing now.

What other "Premium Steel" are you seeking?

Personally, I would love to own one in HAP-40. I like patina, and with that cladding line....hmm

What about a fully-serrated Salt-ified version?

I would like to second this. I have always enjoyed the performance of Hap40 in my Endura. Somewhat easy to sharpen, and stays that way. I think the longer blade length of the P4 would do nicely with some Hap40. VToku2 would be my second choice.

That’ll be my intro to K390 unless the Endura drops first and my willpower fails. I’d be in for at least two in HAP40, if they were offered, as it has become my favorite Endura.

Very happy to hear the K390 P4lw will be regular production. I'll probably buy a few for myself and some as gifts.
