From Russia With Love by Ian Flemming. This is my first introduction to James Bond - never read any of the books or seen any of the movies. I picked up this book cheap at a used book sale.

Before I heard of this book, I was alarmed by the 15,000 man marches on our southern border and wondered what would happen if they became million man marches. This book explores that very topic, albeit boat people invading the beaches of southern France 45 years ago.

The Camp of the Saints is an apocalyptic and prescient French novel by Jean Raspail about the fall of western civilization. Despised by the left and praised in more intelligent circles, the English translation is a bit of a slog in that sentences run on in search of an ending and paragraphs can go pages. It's been said that a good book says what you already believe. This book is great.

Well, I finished it and Casino Royale. Not very impressed; they feel kind of amateurish to be honest.

Just finishing reading Solitary Survivor by Lawrence R. Bailey. It's about his experiences being shot down over Laos in early 1961 and held prisoner for 17 months. Good read.

'Clockwork Angels' by International Best Selling Author Kevin J. Anderson, teaming up with famed RUSH Drummer and Lyricist NEIL PEART.

Based on the band's twentieth studio album, Clockwork Angels is as well the name of their last tour, a few years before Neil lost his battle with brain cancer. :(

However --- an elegant and engaging read -- Highly Recommended.

Finished "House of Assassins" by Larry Correia.

Just started "Born of Flame" by Nick Kyme (love the Warhammer 40k books).

I think "Churchill's Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" by Giles Milton might be next.

Currently finishing the Ballad of Sir Benfro by James Oswald, Françoise Sagan's 'Bonjour tristesse', and rereading the whole Dune saga. I plan to reread Elroy's LA series soon, and have Cixin Liu's Three body problem and Moorcock's Elric on deck too. I usually peruse the local bookstores but it's been kinda thwarted for now.

"Nothing being Everything" by Tony Parsons. A gentle old friend of mine thought I'd enjoy it. He insisted. He was right but it's not for the faint of heart. It's a book to be digested slowly.

I'm reading Confessions by Augustine. It is very deep and very aprapos for the season.
I Pray Heaven to Bestow The Best of Blessing on THIS HOUSE, and on ALL that shall hereafter Inhabit it. May none but Honest and Wise Men ever rule under This Roof! (John Adams regarding the White House)

Follow the Christ, the King,
Live pure, speak true, right wrong, follow the King--
Else, wherefore born?" (Tennyson)

Those books really are fun. I listened to them as audiobooks when they first came out, then my stepdaughter and I read the first two together again. As she got older she wanted to read the rest on her own...not gonna lie, I kept reading without her, too.

Speaking of great audiobooks...I just finished "#1 in Customer Service: The Complete Adventures of Tom Stranger, Interdimensional Insurance Agent." It's totally silly, but really, really funny.
