I am still waiting for a Chap I want. I own the CF version and it is awesome ( and I don't really care for CF). I heard rumors of a bronze version and a sheep horn version.
IIRC Sal mentioned that they tested horn (not sure from what animal, I guess buffalo or something other) and they found that change in humidity effects it badly - warping and so on. Taiwan - humid, Golden - dry, you know what I mean.

Antler is much more stable and IMO more suited towards as a handle material.....But, I am not sure how it would look like on such a thin scales, but there are lot of traditional knives that have antler handle.

Brass/copper/bronze is fun, but it would make it heavy as rock.....but some people like that aspect I guess.

Same for me. No scale material that I love has surfaced. I'm sure it's just a matter of time. Burlap micarta, stabilized wood, horn...sign me up!

Some fullering or a nice, classic/classy deep pattern design would make the bronze lighter and also vary the texture enough for high and low spots to make patination pop. In the meantime, the sun/moon is growing on me.

I'm actually more interested in this one than the Lil Native, Para 3 or Native Rex 45 drops that are creating so much furor.

Marbled CF would be a great addition to the Chaparral family.

Agreed all the way, but ESPECIALLY on the marbled CF - I am salivating at the idea

Sal had mentioned this may be available in the first quarter of this year. Since it hasn't appeared it makes me wonder if we will see it anytime soon. All of the COVID emergency restrictions are bound to be wreaking havoc on their supply line from Taichung and Seki.

We do have a number of handle materials in-the-works for the Chaparral.

The Sun/Moon is scheduled for early summer.

I think the sun and moon Chaparral actually IS the G10 version of this model - just one of the inlays ("moon") is not made out of this handle material..

/ Regardless, I am very much and very long looking forward to this particular Chap... :)

You're right Wart, the Sun/Moon is G10. I was just thinking of a more plain option similar to the polished/matte G10 on the cruwear native with no inlays.
