Modded my Rex45 Native 5 today so it’s in my pocket.

Nice! That’s the first “skinny” mid I’ve seen that I like. I think it actually improved the native aesthetic!!

Thanks! Yes I did. Skinnied the scales, acid washed the blade and some of the hardware and did some weird stuff to the lynch clip to get it to kinda match.

I think the whole skinny mod thing is certainly an acquired taste but personally, I do like it.
I agree, I think the knife looks better this way but it certainly isn’t as comfortable in the hand as Sal’s original design. So a bit of a shame to take that functionality away but it certainly was a fun thing to do on a Saturday stuck at home. Thanks Woodpuppy.

Stretch 1, like most of the times lately--

Here to be seen with a similarly sized, very old, traditional Austrian / Bavarian knife, called the "Hirschfaenger" ("deer catcher" in English).

Those were originally hunting knives. As far as I know starting from about the 16th century professional local hunters would carry two knives, one for skinning, and this "Hischfaenger" meant for killing wounded animals

Later they became all-purpose knives, carried by farmers, lumberjacks and the more rural men generally.
The famous Austrian/Bavarian "Lederhosen" (the knee-long leathertrousers) even have a dedicated side pocket for carrying this type of knives.

Still you can sometimes see older guys in the mountains cutting their bacon and bread for lunch with such blades.

I am personally not the biggest fan of neither sharpening choils nor deep carry clips, but this knife looks very cool!! Great job! :)

The "skinny scales" look very good too, do they make the knife feel noticeable (even) slimmer in pocket? (For the overall width of the closed knife of course remains the same I figure?)

Nice!
Don't have many traditional knives myself but I do have one. The guy who made it makes reproductions of midevil knives and daggers.
Wish I had an original tho! That antique blade looks so cool...

Thank you. My computer was physically destroyed,m so I was without internet accesss for a bit. Lost all my passwords and had to basically recreate everything.... what a nuisance! Yes, I am into hema, but no hema practice lately. I'm fortunate I can still find time to ride my bike.
That hap40 looks well loved. NICE!

The same. I have many, but I carry my Kapara almost exclusively. It does what I want in a way that makes me smile.
