Re: K390 ladybug alert thread
Exciting! This might end up being my first ladybug. Hopefully it is enough to tie me over until the K390 Endura

Perfect timing for everyone hanging out in sweats wanting a knife to open snacks with. I will bet that this knife is a pocket mini-razor.
Do right always. It will give you satisfaction in life.

Love getting the app notification! :D I'll certainly be getting one of these. My niece has taken a liking to my Ladybugs and I know she'll be thrilled when a blue one arrives.

Re: K390 ladybug alert thread
I’m still unsure if I want this steel. I don’t want to have to buy a bunch of new sharpening gear. I’m well stocked and quite satisfied with Spyderco ceramics now; k390, Maxamet, 10v etc. all seem to need diamonds do get best results. I may be better off sticking with rex45, M4, Cruwear, etc.
Re: K390 ladybug alert thread
I was pretty surprised how easy k390 was to sharpen. I expected a long, frustrating experience, but it really wasn't hard to even up the bevel and do a full sharpening on my pm2. Granted I do use diamond stones, and it took a little time on my KME (any reprofile on the kme does, really), but it was easy to deburr and I don't think it required much more effort than m4. If you're already doing rex45 on what you have, seems to me you'd be fine since it's run even harder than k390.Woodpuppy wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 7:02 amI’m still unsure if I want this steel. Good to know. I’ve been looking forward to this one.

Re: K390 ladybug alert thread
I’ve taken lately to carrying my ZDP Dragonfly clipless in my coin pocket, so this release would be completely redundant for me in both steel type and usage...but I’m not sure reason will win the argument here.
Re: K390 ladybug alert thread
I've been carrying and using mine since I got it. But I particularly like K390 and I've been working on this "Endura" family offering for some time.

Re: K390 ladybug alert thread
If you are ok with rex45 and cruwear, you'll be just fine with k390, it's pretty much right in between them in terms of time required (very little)Woodpuppy wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 7:02 amI’m still unsure if I want this steel. Re: K390 ladybug alert thread
Well thank you Julia & JMM. I’ve been excited about trying K390, but apprehensive of my ability to sharpen it. I just gave my rex45 pm2 it’s first full sharpening; I’d just been doing light touch ups. It is now 15 dps (though it was close to begin with), and it went fine on the sharpmaker. Only way to find out is jump in, I guess. Though I’m still eyeballing that se hawkbill salt...
Re: K390 ladybug alert thread
And if it does give you any trouble (which, based only on my experience it won't) then you can always grab the diamond or cbn rods for the sharpmaker. They're really not much of an investment considering how much we spend on our knives.Woodpuppy wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 8:21 pmWell thank you Julia & JMM. Re: K390 ladybug alert thread
Remember how tiny the ladybug blade is, I wouldn't hesitate any steel on a blade that small with diamonds/cbn. Should make quick work of it when needed. Even Michael Christy style on the browns with that small of a blade would probably work.

Re: K390 ladybug alert thread
I have been using K390 in a Para 3 for the last five months. I haven't used anything but the brown SM stones on it. You will love it. I can't speak for the Ladybug though. I am holding out for the K390 Dragonfly.Woodpuppy wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 7:02 amI’m still unsure if I want this steel. I don’t want to have to buy a bunch of new sharpening gear. Re: K390 ladybug alert thread
Thanks! I went ahead and ordered one with a couple of Z-Cuts to get the free shipping!
Now I'll have to find a place for my HAP40 Ladybug since she'll be getting kicked off of the keys...
So it goes.
Re: K390 ladybug alert thread
I want this knife because I like the color and a steel I don't have. Been messing around with my wife's VG10 version tonight, not sure if I can pull the trigger though!
Sorry to go off topic, but is the Dragonfly a guarantee in this configuration?
