Clipit "Worker" prototype in 1980.

Best answer ever! :D

My first was a ‘94 Worker. Chamfered corners. My buddy had the older version with squared corners.

My first spyderco and first “expensive” knife was a blue frn endura in vg10. I thought i was crazy for spending $60 on a knife! Those were the days...

This exact knife was my third Spyderco... (after a Delica CE and a sabre grind Endura) :)

Loved it, but unfortunately lost it eventually... :(

EDIT: Correction, it was my fourth actually.. forgot about a CE Endura in foliage green, which was my third one... :)

Always wanted a spyderco especially after seeing one in the 94 movie cliffhanger. Remember an outdoor hiking/climbing store in my local mall that had spydercos in a nice pillar glass case. I couldn't afford one back then. Fast forward 25 years and I finally bought my first expensive knife- PM2 s30v which soon led to a dozen more spyderco!

Pacific Salt SE, still in my collection.

May it never leave you... ;)

(One of the best work knives ever imho)

It will have to go as soon as I find a safe way to get hold of an Autonomy 1.

 Oh no! The mighty Pac Salt, kicked out of your door... ;)

But honestly: I am sure there are a lot of people actually looking for the discontinued Pac Salt 1 SE and someone will be happy to buy it from you! :) (Not me though, love my Pac Salt 1, but slightly prefer the E4 handle that the current Pac Salt 2 has)

:p Fully serrated Endura, right? Even played an important role in rescuing a parachuter hanging in a tree (really clean cut through the webbing) and stabbing a bad guy in the leg which let to his defeat as far as I can recall...

Nice! I love the old Delica 3 blades, the "pointy" ones before they added the slight drop to the spine. With teeth, they look especially mean.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

My first Spyderco was a Dragonfly 2 with a ZDP-189 blade & British Racing Green handle scales. I'm a life-long knife knut and have been interested in Spyderco's products since first seeing them in the early 1990s but that was the first model that made me go, "ok, this offers something that I just can't get anywhere else". That "something" was a reasonably priced small-but-highly-functional-and-ergonomic convenience cutter in what was then an exotic "high-performance" steel, all at a reasonable price.

I haven't looked back and now almost exclusively use Spyderco folders at work and for EDC (I have a couple of small Kershaws that I keep to represent the work of a couple of designers whose work I admire, as well as my late father's unbranded traditional folder).

My needs in a work & EDC knife have changed over the years, but the Dragonfly design remains one of my favourites and I still have that first Dragonfly in my collection.

Have to admit, I got off on the wrong foot (or rather, the wrong hand) with Spyderco. My first purchase was a "wrong handed" liner lock, an aluminum Peter Herbst in early 2003. Looked nice, felt totally wrong in my left hand. After a couple more equally bad decisions, I bought an FRN C41 Native and a jigged bone Kiwi and have been a Spyderco midlock fan ever since. :)

Sad to say I can't remember which one came first...it was either a Tenacious or a Dragonfly salt, I think. Then a Delica came soon after. The Tenacious got replaced with an Alcyone, but I definitely still have the Dragonfly.

This Delica for me:

Well, that’s what it looks like today - it started off with grey FRN scales.

I’ve carried and used that knife a lot, and still enjoy using it from time to time. VG10 is great stuff.

Mine was a gently used Native in 440v. Utterly smooth action, fit my hand like it was made for it.
