Ummm... The abrasion marks go the length of the blade, not perpendicular? Bench stone, belt sander or hand sanded? Interesting.

Belt sander then horizontally satin finished by hand. Labour of love haha.

I really like the Techno mod, wouldn't think it was possible to do that and still look great.

It's a really cool knife now. Still a bit cumbersome but the king of sheepsfoot cutters in my collection. I use it to cut down my wife's sketches and mailers if we can't make it to a print center in time. :p

The Breeden Rescue is one of my personal favorites. I love carrying mine, but could only imagine how nice it would be to have another with a grind like that also... cool stuff.

They look great and I'm sure they cut even better. The thing that jumped out at me was the scratch pattern. I've never re-ground a knife blade but the ones I remember seeing have the scratch pattern going from edge to spine, not from heel to tip. That always made sense since I've heard of re-grinds either being done on a belt sander of even on stones sometimes. I've tried to think about it and the only way I could do it would be to lay the blade on a stone at the heel and pull the blade back and forth taking special care when the heel end of the blade gets close to the stone. But I don't know how people who do re-grinds actually do it or what tools they use. How did the scratch pattern on your knives end up being in the heel to tip direction? I'm curious.

Jack, after the belt grind, the blades are hand sanded in that direction. I've done this before, but this is better work than I've done.

I've never seen it, make sure you're checking dates. This thread died 5 years ago.

There's a guy on the Facebook group that's been reprofiling the spine of knives and adding swedges to everything. If you get on there and browse through pics he shouldn't be hard to find. I'm sure Big Chris is well capable of adding a swedge.
