I’ve been carrying my Pingo lately

If anyone's looking for the Elmax sprint, it's in stock at Knifeworks.

Pingos rock.
It was one of those models I totally overlooked and didn't get until they were disco'd and I picked one up b/c the prices were too cheap to ignore. Then I bought another one. :)
Still kind of baffled by the handle. Always thought it looked goofy and uncomfortable before I held one, but it works brilliantly in use for what it is.

I would be interested but does anyone know how the pivot holds up on these? There was a lot of discussion recently about problems with the pivot on the Urban and I am assuming that these come out of the same plant??mikey177 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 5:19 amIf anyone's looking for the Elmax sprint, it's in stock at Knifeworks.

^The issue is with rounding out the "D" shaped cutout in the frn. Don't think this would be an issue at all with the ti scaled version.
It also isn't limited to the Maniago slip-its, it can happen on the UKPK too. I've disassembled a bunch of them though and never had an issue. Guess it depends on technique and how much loc-tite is on the screw threads.

It's cute and I love the blade shape, but that hook and my ring finger don't mix
My only complaint - Spyderco should get the gang back together and do another collab!

Lol. I'm a lefty so my wedding band and my knife habit never really mixed.
...I stopped wearing the wedding band years ago.

Re: I’ve been carrying my Pingo lately
Would you rather carry a Ti Squeak or a Ti Pingo? I don't want to start a different thread about it but I have the opportunity to buy a Ti Squeak as well and I was wondering how it compared to the Pingo? I haven't ever even held a Squeak. Thanks all.

If I knew where I could buy a nice Ti Squeak for a good price I'd do it.

I've got thick 2xl hands and the Pingo is no issue for me, generally. Of course, I have to use the jimped part of the tang to hold the knife properly.GarageBoy wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 5:53 amNot married, I meant it literally rubbed my finger the wrong way
Odd because both voxnaes and anso have large hands

Sorry, I followed you, just went on a tangent.
The hook on the Pingo doesn't bother me, actually like how locked in my grip on the knife feels with it.

Yes, it does lock in nicely.
What is a crying shame is that there never was an Urban equivalent.

I had the k390 Pingo, but kept the Ti/Elmax Squeak. Oho is just as useful in a slipjoint, and I preferred both the blade and handle shapes.

Re: I’ve been carrying my Pingo lately
I took it down to 15* per side. It cuts much better, but is still not as good as the Urban LW. Still, that helped a lot.

Yes, the Urban was nice and thin behind the edge to start. It’s great with a 15° per side edge.

Carry a Orange Pingo in my travel bag at work, use it when I end up in some remote town and usually just make a sandwich at the hotel for the next day. Back of the blade is the best butter spreading tool ever.
Funny as it’s the most asked about and picked up Spyderco I own.

It is really a great looking knife. That’s what drew me to it originally.standy99 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2020 6:12 amCarry a Orange Pingo in my travel bag at work, use it when I end up in some remote town and usually just make a sandwich at the hotel for the next day. I’m down with a pingo had and lost a few. Brilliant piece of design.
