Spydiechef weak detent

Post by neuronic »

Hey guys,
how strong is the detent on your Spydiechef...?

On mine it is borderline weak, I can shake out the blade with no effort whatsoever, even right against gravity... kinda bugs me :(

I would put mine at medium. It wont casually shake open. I have to sling mine around to overcome the detent. Of my detent based spydercos I would put my caribbean in last. At low medium, its not too bad, but definitely needs a stronger detent. I feel like my pm2s and para 3 are closer to high. I dont know if the detent is any stronger but they are more difficult to sling open.

A steel lockbar I might fool with, but I wouldnt mess with trying to increase the bend on a titanium one. I would reccomend sending it in to Spyderco.

Have you disassembled and cleaned the knife? You could have a very small piece of something obstructing the detent ball hole.
