What Spyderco do you think was your best value?

Post by Doc Dan »

What Spyderco, based on features, fit and finish, materials, etc. do you consider to be your Best Buy? It may not be your favorite, but was worth more than you got.

For me, hands down, it was my Cat. It has G10, good jimping top and bottom, and great fit and finish.

I bought this as a travel knife and was blown away when I got it. It was nicer than my CF Chaparral way back when.
It holds an edge well enough and sharpens easy as pie. I used a Lansky on it when it was too dull, but usually maintained the edge on a leather barbers strop rather than let it get dull. Now I am using the Sharpmaker.

This. A steal for the money.. It does absolutely everything right for a small folder designwise, perfect fit and finish, great steel.

I got a ZDP Delica for $50 once, that's probably the best deal I've gotten.

Either the first run of the CS Native 5 DLC (first run before price hike) or GB1. Both have awesome steels, Native is DLC too.
The GB1 should have been priced much higher IMO. The fit, finish and build quality trumps EVERY other Spyderco I own.

When I first saw the title of your post my first thought was Cat as well, Doc. As others have weighed in I would have to add that I haven't owned a better knife for the money than a GB1 from any knife maker. Fantastic build and the knife is just a tank that will do anything that you ask from it. Between it, my Cat, and my 52100 Millie I probably don't actually need another folding knife but the Spydie addiction is too much fun.
Do right always. It will give you satisfaction in life.

My first two spydercos were issued to me through my former job, so Im going to go with those. Atlantic salt and snapit salt. Its hard to beat free.

I also picked up a discoed junction for $100 so that was pretty good.

No brainer here. Back in 2018 when eBay coupons were plentiful, and I was also able to make an offer and no tax on eBay purchases, I snagged one of the best Spyderco's I own...for the incredible price of $119!

All great knives! I also think anything in the Manix 2 line-up seems to provide a great value. :)

I'm still kicking myself for not buying a couple more as backups when they were plentiful and cheap.

Yup, I love this knife. It cost a lot more than the $32 or so I paid for my Cat. However, it is the best $58 or so I ever spent.

I think pretty much any Spyderco represents a value in some way, but.. best value for the money at MAP pricing.. Native5, Manix 2, Tenacious/Resilience, Chap LW, UKPK jump to mind.

Best value as far as "crazy deals" that I've been able to score over the years..
$129.99 Shaman on sale at Cabela's
$134.99 Lil Sub Hilt/Lil Native Backlock bundle @ BladeHQ
$149.95 Discontinued Sprint CF Native CPM154/S90V
Rick H.

..well, that escalated quickly..

My GB1. It’s such an awesome knife. Second would be the manix 2 they are what I usually have in my pocket on the off chance I’m not carrying the GB1.
Wanted: M4 PM 2 or manix M4.

My Caribbean at $125 during the Ebay coupon era.

I've had a lot more, but that is the only one I've ever felt bad about getting so cheap. It's worth much more than what it is selling for currently.
