S110v Shaman?
S110v Shaman?
Hey all,
So, we have the s110v Manix, para2, para 3, ect. Do you think they will ever release a S110V Shaman? Recently I've been on a big shaman kick. Love the whole design the way it feels, everything. While s30v isn't any slouch, do you think we'll see some mass production s110v for the shaman models?
Me personally i'd be all over it. It's one of my favorite steels and sharpening it can be a bear but, the edge retention is something to be admired once you get it right.
That being said... what about a maxamet Shaman? That would be gorgeous if they went with the same grey they use for the other models.

Re: S110v Shaman?
I want a cruwear shaman and a 4v shaman, and here is the important part. I want to be able to actually get ahold of one.
Dont have too much of an opinion on s110v. Probably going to say no to maxamet. The shaman is a hard use knife and seems like several people have snapped maxamet blades.

Re: S110v Shaman?
I would pass on the s110v most likely... I know the steel has exceptional edge retention, but I don't like sharpening it, and I don't think it's tough enough for what a whole lot of folks use their Shamans for, just a guess, but I think so. I would jump at the chance to have a Maxamet Shaman though, I have a Para3 that I paid to have a hair-splitting edge put on and I am amazed at how sharp it has remained with what I have put it through, IMHO it's awesome steel that just seems to want to cut and cut and cut... my 2cVooDooChild wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 12:12 amI want a cruwear shaman and a 4v shaman, and here is the important part. I would love a production shaman with upgraded steel choice. Either S110v or Maxamet would be awesome, and I would probably get both if they were made

Re: S110v Shaman?
I reckon the upcoming rex45 sprints might satisfy the hankering for some higher edge retention.

Re: S110v Shaman?
Agreed 100%, love me some Rex45, I have the TreeRex, PM2, and Para3 in it already, it's right there with 4V as my fave Spydie steel... even though we've had an abundance of Shaman awesome this year already, I am still incredibly excited for the K390 Shaman whenever that may come, that my friend is gonna be ahhh-freakin-maze-balls :) :)curlyhairedboy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 6:03 amI reckon the upcoming rex45 sprints might satisfy the hankering for some higher edge retention.
Re: S110v Shaman?
I am ready to revisit s110v. I struggled in the past sharpening it. But now that I’ve gotten a bit more consistent with my results from other steels, I want to give s110v a go again. And the Shaman would be my perfect choice. I’ve had s30v and m4 versions, but let them go to fund other purchases. It is a model I do miss using.
Also, not to derail or go off topic too much, but others mentioned Maxamet. I would definitely be in on a Maxamet Shaman.

Re: S110v Shaman?
I love s110v, but I don't think it's a good fit for the Shaman platform. The steel and the platform seem to be aimed at different end users.
Re: S110v Shaman?
Why is s90v fine but s110v not for the shaman?
Re: S110v Shaman?
Blurple Lil' Native would be cool as well.

Re: S110v Shaman?

Re: S110v Shaman?
I'd buy one. I'd welcome any production Shaman in any variation. The sprints are hard to come by for us Canucks, and US dealer exclusives are now impossible to get.

Re: S110v Shaman?
I think S110V is just another one of those maligned steels that’s fallen from grace because of the preconceived notion that it’s extremely difficult to sharpen, doesn’t hold initial sharpness, chips, etc.
Admittedly it isn’t the easiest steel to sharpen but there’s a trade of in everything I reckon and perhaps it doesn’t hold its initial sharpness too well either. All said, personally, I like it and S90V.
I don’t particularly like sharpening or touching up knives often and I don’t see any significant difference in real world, every day carry pocket knife use between an atom splitting edge, an edge which pops hairs that’ll take your dog’s eye out, or a humble ”Working Edge”. In fact I quite preferred a working edge that lasts for weeks over a hair whittling edge I need to touch up every couple of days just for the sake of having the sharpest blade in our relatively short street.
Anyhow, I s’pose that’s my long winded way of saying I’d have S110V in any knife I liked. :)

Re: S110v Shaman?
I want a Shaman with the best steel ever....
Re: S110v Shaman?
I think the fact that s90v is tougher than s110v would be my guess at answering your question -- although lots of folks here know way more than I do about the specifics....
(And s90v is a little bit easier to sharpen than s110v is would be the extra bonus IMO)

Re: S110v Shaman?
I wonder if Spy27 and a frn handle would bring the price down? No frn texture though or maybe a more shallow fish scale pattern. I would also like an upgraded option production but please no blurple and while we're on the subject please make some s110v in a different color!
