POLL: What serrated model would you prefer: FFG Endura SE (liners, VG10) or FFG Pac Salt 2 SE (no liners, LC200N)?
POLL: What serrated model would you prefer: FFG Endura SE (liners, VG10) or FFG Pac Salt 2 SE (no liners, LC200N)?
As some may have noticed ( ) I am totally blown away by the performance of the serrated EndELa
Unlike the serrated EndURa (sabre grind), the serrated EndELa comes in ffg, which imho makes it a better performer.
So I really wish for an ffg Endura SE (same serration pattern as the Endela SE) - in VG10
Tonijedi (and others) brought up the suggestion of a ffg Pac Salt 2 SE - in LC200N
The handle would be shaped exactly like the Endura 4 handle, just linerless and a bit thicker (as it is the case with the Pac Salt 2 handle compared to the Endura 4 handle) [Edit July 2020: Don´t know if the Pac Salt 2 handle actually is thicker than the Endura 4 handle]
I really can´t tell which model I´d prefer, both would be great!
What would be your choice? Which one should Spyderco produce if it was up to you?
(I thought about adding a third option: Endura (so with liners) ffg SE, but in LC200N - but I think this one is very unlikely to ever come true)

Niether to be honest. My foliage green endura 4 and my pacific salts are my work and beater knives, and alot of that is from the saber/hollow grind. The tip just doesnt worry me on those models.
But, for your thread I will go with the salt option because I like the advantages the salt series offers.

Being the Delica nut I am, this is an easy one - Salt 2 all the way!!!
However, I am fine with SE in H1, and don't see a need for a FFG SE vs the current offering.
I would like to see a Salt 2 PE LC200N! It would be a must buy (prefer the yellow handle but black would be ok too).

Between the two, I’d take the Pac Salt 2 in LC200N, in PE or SE.
And I like and have some Endura 4’s already. Of course, none in FFG SE. But IMO, an LC200N, FFG Pac Salt 2 would be phenomenal.

Pac Salt, since I prefer linerless.

I have a couple Enduras. I need a Pac salt2

And certainly in ffg, right?!

FFG everything, and I trust the Salt handle enough to live without liners. If I want a stronger knife I'll use my Caribbean.

Well, it seems a Pac Salt FFG SE is the "winner" so far...
I still could not decide. I like the E4 handle shape, don´t really care if liners or not, for me it is all about the BLADE and its performance. Just exactly like on the Endela SE, except longer...
VG10 in SE performs great, but if you look at Davids / Evil Ds "serrated Caribbean torture test" thread (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=85045) LC200N does so either (if not even better).
So I´d be fine with either of those steels (don´t need the total rustproofness of LC)

I voted SE LC200N FFG Pacific Salt. From my understanding, the SE performance is similar to VG-10, and why turn down that Salt goodness of being rustproof?

I choose LC200N AND liners!

Right, would be cool, and as said in my op I thought about adding that choice!
But then I figured it is very unlikely to come true (LINERED Pac Salt with LC200 N blade)
While an ffg SE Endura should be not too hard to make: They have the handle already, they have the ffg blade, they have the perfect serration pattern already in the sligjtly shorter, otherwise simillar EndELa blade...

I really don't see that happening unless they decided to make an Endura with LC. This issue with other steels mixing and causing corrosion would mean they'd have to make the liners out of LC too, and that'll drive the price up to Caribbean range, which might be a hard sale for an Endura.

I doubt it would be that high, I imagine around $130 would be the final number. Call it the Pacific 2 HW. Infact, why not a whole line of HWs?Evil D wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2020 5:12 am

It really has been an incredible steel. I'd buy most any model in LC200N(as many as my bank account will allow).Evil D wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2020 5:52 amSumdumguy wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2020 5:28 amI doubt it would be that high, I imagine around $130 would be the final number. VG-10, while being one of my favorite steels, has been obliterated by LC200N. I still have many knives in VG-10 and I would never pass on a knife because of it having VG-10.
But, if there's an option for LC200N... I'm like, "VG-who?".

Green handled, Salt 2 and Pacific, FFG, LC200N - but I'm really Jonesin' for the Salt 2 in PE and SE.

Just some pics for illustration:
As said, I personally don´t care if in an linered or unlinered handle, and wether it´s VG10 or LC200N:
I´d just love to see the exact same serration pattern as the Endela (knife in the middle in pic 1) has in the exact same ffg, except longer, Endura blade...
(pic 1 (obviously anyway):
Top: Pac Salt (hollow/sabre grind, more aggressive serrations), Middle: Endela SE (ffg, very shallow serrations), bottom: Endura ffg (PE, not SE..unfortunately.. :D )
Pic 2: Comparison serration pattern Pac Salt SE vs Endela SE
