Caring for Spyderco PITS

#1

Post by noeps »

I recently purchased a PITS. I relubricated it with mineral oil, but after doing so I realized a small dab of grease has been placed right into the detent on the blade, and might have been serving an important function. I know there is a high load between the titanium handle and blade on that point, as it is right where the blade fits into the titanium standoff. I was wondering if I should get some thicker grease and place some there, If so, what grease would you recommend? Here's the detent:

I would try some Sentry Tuf Hi Slip Grease.

3-in-1 oil works for me. :)

I find the PITS to be very easy to care for. It is very stainless and the action is very smooth. Sharpens easily too.

Hmm, I didn't think the standoffs on the PITS were titanium.
