Yep, sold out last night. Let the crying begin. Folks can't say they didn't have plenty of time to jump on this Rex45...

Yep, I got mine. :)

In the box and safe.
Mine is in my pocket today. :D At least the flipper market for this one should be negligible. :p

Didn't buy it to use, I have a REX45 Military that's a user.
Need me one of these^! Peeved I missed out.

Mine did not either, and I had briefly wondered if possibly it was a returned pre-order example. There were no prints on the knife to speak of, and I couldn't find a thing wrong with it, so I don't really care one way or the other. But no, mine did not have a desiccant pack either.]

Thank you SpyderPhreak.

Mine did actually come with some smudging on the blade. I was sure though, that since mine went out with the first few hundred. That there had been no time for it to be a returned knife. Someone at the store must have handled this one. Checking random samples, I like to think. :D
So that's one reason I wanted to ask here, about the packet missing. I thought it could be possible, that maybe mine was checked, and the packet was just left on the table, unintentionally.

I've talked to nine others now, who did get this one. None of those nine, had a Silica gel desiccant pack in their box.

I'm pretty sure though, that the Rex 45 PM 2 and Para 3, were shipped with Silica gel desiccant packs. It's hard for me to remember that far back though, to say for sure.

There will be about 12,000 more of these Rex 45 blades coming out this year. Maybe it was decided on, to save that money? I'm on the fence about it, personally. With all of that Tungsten, Vanadium, Cobalt, Molybdenum, and 4 % Chromium in it. It sure doesn't rust or patina very easily.
The main concern, is shelf life. That's my main thought. Not the early shipping of the knives. But then on the other hand, when sending this much Rex 45 out in a year, with no DLC. Its a calculated risk, for sure.

My Rex45 PM2 definitely had the packet. None of my Spyderco "carbon" knives have been missing them till now, even Cruwear has had them in the past.

Watch out, 'Phreak's running a mill!!!

What in the world is the Phreak doing with the Mill? Removing jimping, or . . . . ? :D

Regarding the smudging or fingerprints on the blade, you guys do know that Spyderco employs actual human beings with fingers and those fingers do indeed occasionally actually touch the knives they’re making... ;) :D

Yes Mr. RadioactiveSmartyPants. We do know of these humans, that you speak of. :D
But those humans also have a rag on the assembly bench, that they use to wipe things off, before tucking our baby into it's bag. :spyder:

And for those who may get in a new Spyderco, near weekly (not going to mention any names:), and can't even remember ever seeing this before. It stands out as odd. No even mentioning the missing silica gel desiccant packet. :p

Got mine a few days ago and it's great. This is my first Shaman, and despite the Compression lock, I love it. The scales are smooth, but not too smooth. The grain isn't blowing me away, but I also didn't expect that, especially given the cost vs the base model. This knife, with it's steel and handle material, was an absolute steal. I'm kicking myself for not buying a second.

Working on some model parts (the Aluminum block chucked up in the vice). After I was done, decided it would make a good photo op. ;)

It's not live. The machine is off, and power has been turned off already at the breaker by this point. ;)

You guys ready to see something cool? :D

My sheath making buddy, Chad Pirtle (Pirtlemade leather), did a dye job on his Rosewood using some Fiebing's black leather dye. They turned out AWESOME!!!

You would think these scales were made of Walnut!  :spyder:

I might have to give this a try with some RIT this weekend...

Wow! I love that Walnut look! That came out fantastic. If I didn't cancel my preorder, I would 110% try to replicate that.

Thanks for sharing. :spyder:

KnifeCenter needs to run this combination in a Manix. Or a Native.

You're welcome guys! I know some will LOVE this look, and honestly, I like it better than the Rosewood myself.

If I wasn't in a hotel right now, I would 100% be trying this over the weekend. Just need to figure out if I have everything I need in my kitchenette to do the dye job...

I had a miscommunication with my initial order that was placed within the first few minutes possible, that I was only completely made aware of yesterday, as it turned out, while I had indeed pre-ordered, it did not complete their process -- I went back and I did still have one in my cart... I completed my transaction this morning around 07:00 PST and I got the "shipped" message a few minutes ago. :)

Wow wow wow, I am both excited and nervous to see what these scales look like when I get them, but seeing this I must say is awesome, THANK YOU for sharing, those look absolutely amaze-balls -- if I don't care for the colour of mine I will do the same and post up!

Strange, I just came here to ask if anyone has tried to stain the scales.😏
Purple would look nice, although I do like the darkness on these.

Looks good! Was there any initial prep work on the scales? I have a really nice specialty wood store near me and you've got me intrigued, but I have no idea about dying stuff like Dymondwood. Great work!
