Cruwear Collection

#1

Post by Doeswhateveraspidercan »

My Cruwear collection is as follows:

1. Spyderco Military

1. Spyderco Paramilitary 2

1. Spyderco Para 3

1. Manix 2

2. Delica

The Paramilitary 2 was the one with smooth scales replaced those with some Paramilitary 2 black normal textured for this series scales.

Loved the smooth scales but it kept slipping out of my hand so it was not practical for me. I guess fellas with moister mitts it is okay but my hands tend to be dry from cleaning them allot.

After having dyed my Jade M4 Spyderco Dodo successfully I am considering disassembling the knives with light colored scales.

Will probably buy some Manix 2 scales to get rid of the smooth scales it came with and use those to test dye color.

Anyone else dye their light colored Cruwear models? If so please share your pics and thanks.

I'm surprised this wasn't in the Pictures subforum. I want pictures!
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Native 5
Delica
Manix 2
Shaman

Having a hard time finding scales to replace the smooth g10 on the native (no one seems to make scales for linerless natives), so it may be on the chopping block soon.

Could someone explain why I should want cruwear compared to other steels that Spyderco sells?

Cruwear is a superbly balanced steel for general tasks of edc nature. It is very nearly a stainless steel, has very good edge retention, is very tough (given its corrosion resistance) and sharpens pretty easily and maintains high level of sharpness a long time.

Unfortunately I don't have a single Spyderco in my collection with Cruwear.

I'm always on the lookout for a used Para 3 or Native 5, so I'll have one eventually although there are several items on the want list above those two.

Thanks for the concise explanation. I'll have to find a knife of my liking in cruwear. I'm assuming they're difficult to find?

I see some very nice dye jobs and custom scales and scale swapping. Very nice and thank you for sharing.
