Re: Bombshell Flash Batch
I'm curious about the clip screw changes. Seems to me Burch's regular hole pattern would offer more value to a collector without compromising anything, but there's got to be a reason...
[Edit: checked out pictures of the Chubby and it looks like that design would also take a Spyderco clip, where this one has a different screw pattern.]

Yeah they look similar in some aspects, I agree. But the package... Nah. Bombshell outdoes them by far. Imho...

I’m selfishly happy this doesn’t seem to be as popular as I thought it would be. Maybe I won’t have to scramble so hard to secure one of these.

Not for me but it's pretty cool. I will echo others and say all Spydercos should come with their wire or hourglass clips, I'm really not impressed by one off clip designs and it takes away the ability to swap on custom clips. I really think Spyderco should narrow it down to one hourglass design and stick it on every knife that doesn't use a wire clip, so that every knife is uniform and can accept the same clips. Seems like it would cut down on cost too. I see the hourglass clip as another trademark detail right along with the thumb hole.

Re: Bombshell Flash Batch
As far as the clip, other people want a "custom" clip on a high-end collab. I remember people complaining about the standard hour glass on the Paysan and Nirvana.
Re: Bombshell Flash Batch
That is why I love the Paysan, a custom knife with everything from Spyderco I love added.

Re: Bombshell Flash Batch
You can't make everyone happy, that's for sure.
I'd guess the designer and Eric negotiate on the value of a custom clip, but sometimes the original is a sculpted/billet clip.
Sculpted clips are fancy but I've never seen one that was better than a bent clip, so if the original has a sculpted clip the hourglass or wire clip seems the right call to me.

I wasn't going to say it, but since you did.... the first thing that came to my mind was if you take away the hole and add a thumb stud, it could be a CRKT. :D I like it, though. It's nice to see some beefy blades still being made.Larry_Mott wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 4:23 amI am sorry but it looks like some Böker or CRKT jobbie to me. Doesn't tickle anywhere at all.

Horrible pocket clip, and terrible ricasso area.
What’s to like here?!

Why "horrible ricasso area" ? Optic-wise?
Cause functionwise it's pretty good just imho: Sacrifices not much actual edge, still perfect for choking up on. Just in my experience control and leverage is better, if a choil (or other "choke up on area") does NOT recess the forefinger deep "in" the blade.
Still, generally not the kind of knife I'd actually carry a lot.

Please, show me that Böker with a thick 20CV or similar quality stonewashed blade and titanium liners.

Re: Bombshell Flash Batch
I'm definitely going to try to buy one of these, I like the design a lot.
For some reason, to me this model seems primed and ready for a flipper tab but I'm glad it doesn't have one!

It’s the same as the Yojimbo, and it is as comfortable as any Spyderco I own.Wartstein wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 1:16 pmRazorSharp86 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 12:44 pmHorrible pocket clip, and terrible ricasso area.

Pass. I've never seen the appeal of short, thick, wide knives.
