What is your dominant hand / forum statistics

Post by pantagana23 »

Statistics say that left handed population worldwide is approximately 10%.

As a left handed person, I am curious how many of those 10% would be prone to carry foldable or fixed blade knives, as left handers have also different regions of brain as dominant.

I am curious to how many of you use both hands without preference also.

I believe this hand dominance could best be tested when writing on paper.

So, what say you?

I clicked on right-handed, which I am for writing and eating, but I throw a ball and other things equally (and sometimes better) left-handed. Going a bit OT, I'm completely ambidextrous in striking with my hands. As far as operating a knife, I am definitely right-handed, but a few years ago when I wasn't able to use my right hand properly for months due to an injury, I discovered that the left hand adapts to many things quickly, through necessity. When I started using my right hand again, it felt 'weird' until I got used to it again.

I write left handed... so I voted left. I do most everything else right handed, I carry and use a knife like a right handed person. Where’s the option for confused folks?

Also... the other 2 technicians at work are left handed...

I'm definitely right-handed (and voted that way) but I'll often use a knife in my left hand.

Cool idea. I am right handed but ambi with my feet (soccer, skiing, climbing, running etc.) My whole right side is usually slightly stronger. Semi ambi with knife opening and closing, almost exclusively cut with knife in right hand. I am highly sympathetic to lefties.

Once the sample is over 40 we have more robust results. Unfortunately we have no accounting for self-selection in participation. Curious to see the results grow.

A Para 3 lefty version I would definitely buy!

I don’t really count that as ambi... I mean I guess...

I am definitely right-handed, but can write with my left thanks to a broken arm when I was in school. I also prefer to hit left-handed playing baseball.

Me too, along with using my knife left handed.
Otherwise I'm all right 😁

Completely ambidextrous. Drumming helps a lot with training ambidextrousness.

I voted ambidextrous because I'm "somewhat" ambidextrous. I can do most things with either hand but, in many cases, can do them more efficiently with one than the other. When I was a kid I could write equally well with either hand, but now use just my right, I can open and close folding knives more fluidly with my left hand, but can cut just as well with either and will switch hands if one gets tired. I normally shoot rifles, shotguns, and target pistols right handed because I have a right master eye, but can draw and shoot defensive pistols both faster and more accurately left handed, so I carry on my left side.

I was told I was born a southpaw but raised righty. I can do some things left handed but using a knife isn't one of them.

No confusion here, right dominant from head to toe.

Interesting thing to me - All the males in my wife's family (her parents and siblings) are left handed, all females right. Of all their children, the females are left handed, males right. All the grand children so far are left handed, 3 girls & 2 boys.

I voted left, but tend to be ambidextrous.

I'm right handed in writing. But I'm 100% ambidextrous in all other things(guns, golf, baseball, etc.) So, when it comes to knives I'd say Ambi.

No matter which hand I'm using to shoot with I'm left eye dominant. I'm all mixed up!

I'm right handed and Gail is left handed. That's why we created left handed knives from the onset.
