I am excited to see another blue Manix LW in SPY27, but I honestly might have to get a G10 Rex45 just cause it’s a sprint and I would like to try the steel. That Sun and Moon Chaparral is sweet too, I was wanting to get the Raffir Noble version, but I like the pearl inlay. I’m probably most excited to see the SPY27 models, I wasn’t expecting that (haven’t been on the forum a ton recently) and I’m very excited to see where that goes.

i don’t care for tool steels (hahaha... autocorrect changed this to fool steels initially), but i’ve been wanting a ladybug to replace my first knife that is missing from my collection and this one may be it.

i’m also very interested in the hint at a lil native salt. i hope it’s not only available in a backlock though. i already have a small backlock salt and am only interested in it as a comp lock in lines g10. one can dream...

if i didn’t have a pacific salt, i’d be all over the pac salt 2, but i see no reason to replace what i have. for anyone that is on the fence, it’s a great knife and very popular for good reason.

i’d also love a dlc yojimbo, but i think i’ll wait on this one, since i already have the satin version. maybe a dlc yojumbo will be released later this year...?

also, spyderco, please ditch the pins in the manix 2 lw. i’m not interested in another manix lw until i can take it apart to maintain it properly and/or it’s a salt version.

That's probably the only reason I don't own a Manix 2 LW.

honestly, it’s my favorite pocket knife of all time. it can only be improved (for me) by making it with screws and by making a salt version in lc200n.

The rex 45 Native Chief is the only one I’ll try for, as I’ve already got a preorder for the KC Rex 45 Shaman. Once again, the Manix XL was left out from the Golden sprint linup :( .
BRING ON THE MANIX XL SPRINTS AND EXCLUSIVES! And 10v or K390ify the Golden lineup, please.

Top 5 folders I’ve owned: Serrated Caribbean Leaf, Shaman, Manix XL, ZDP-189/CF Caly 3.5, Native LW.
Top 5 steels I’ve owned: LC200N, K390, CPM S90V, M390, CPM REX45.
Top 3 steels I want more of: M390 class, A11 class (including K390), CPM REX45.

I would love to get any or all of the 3 Shamans recently released .... but that's another story... ;)

Anywho, Shaman shenanigans aside, I would really like one of each of the new steels, so a Para3 LW in spy27, and a PM2 in s45vn.... and given that I really do love me some Rex45, I will probably get one of each and every Rex45 based sprint models, provided I can find them and find my piggy bank.... ;)

Yojimbo 2 black, because they’ve started blacking out the compression lock.

Good catch dj! I love DLC, but I have always disliked the uncoated compression lock and liner lock. I was just thinking how much better that DLC Cruwear Shaman would look with DLC liners. I really hope coated everything is the standard going forward. Seeing a fully coated DLC knife is the biggest bombshell of this reveal for me! :D

Now if only they would have done screw construction on those new Manix LWs...

Love the Lil Native Rex 45. Will all 8 of the sprints drop at once, or the release be staggered? I’m new here, but have gotten swept away by all the excitement.

Hi, Johncjeff:
Welcome to our forum. Our goal is to release everything from any given Reveal within 90-120 days from when we launch the Reveal. The Sprints will be released as they come out of production, so not all at once.

We hope you enjoy your time with us!

Kristi

One thing I just noticed, and am curious as to why this is. Looking at the MSRP of the REX line. Specifically Manix LW and G10, vs Native LW and G10, both of which are made in Golden.

First, both Natives are more expensive than the Manixes (Manixi?). One would think smaller knife with less material would equate to lesser price. Perhaps the backlock is costlier to produce?

But what makes less sense to me is that the difference between the LW and G10 in the two models. Manix price difference of the LW compare to G10 is $5. The difference between the two Natives is $75?
That’s how it’s always been, the standard S30V G10 Native is actually more money than the standard S30V PM2 ($161 vs $151.20 @BHQ). The G10 Manix 2 is the bargain of the bunch ($121.50 @BHQ) which is really convenient because it’s my favorite knife. I’m assuming manufacturing factors are the cause of the price difference, and the CBBL must be the easiest/cheapest to manufacture. The variation in difference between the LW and G10 models has always been something that intrigued me though, I’m not sure why there’s a massive difference for the Natives, less for the Para 3 and even less for the Manix.

Given how perfect and tight the Native backlock is (even compared to other Spyderco backlocks) I could imagine that it takes more production time and qc-time to ensure the necessary low tolerances... ?!

While CBBL and comp. lock might be more "forgiving" in production and still be perfect? (I mean it does not really matter if a comp.lock hits 1/10 of a mm further right or left, but 1/10 of an mm varation on a backlock in certain parts can be the difference between rock solid and perceivable blade play?)

Not sure, just a thought.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Again, the Native backlock is really yet another step up compared to the Sekie backlocks (which are great already) concerning "rock solidness" / "no wiggle whatsoever".
I can imagine it is harder and more time and work consuming (and by that more expensive?) to achieve that with a backlock than with a comp. lock or CBBL - ?!

While I want almost all of the rex45 sprints, Im probably going to try to get the native 5 lightweight. Its really cheap for a native lightweight with a steel upgrade, and Im hoping it will sell out slower than the g10 options so that I could have a chance at getting one. Also the native 5 lightweight is just a great going to work and edc knife.

For me, it's the Nightstick, with the Sun/Moon Charparral a close second and the Rock Glass third.

Well, I mustn't have been wearing my reading glasses when I looked at the Reveal. Nightstick is only single edge and has a useless hole in the blade, so it's off my list. Sun Moon Chap is now #1 and Rock Glass #2 for me.

I'm glad to see all the rex45 offering after such a dry spell.
I don't think the n5 lw will last very long though, the scalpers are gonna murder this one.

You could always grind the other edge on the Nightstick and put an edge on it.......but I never fully understand what is a dagger blade good for in normal life...
