Watu...AKA Lil Chokwe

#1

Post by Dazen »

I feel the Watu needs it’s own thread!

I’m so pumped for this one. I wish it wasn’t laminate cf, but the 20cv is a bonus!

What do y’all think?

Really nice design. That pattern of laminate CF is not appealing. Many things I like - thin 2.5mm blade stock, light weight, wire clip, simple handle shape, pointy tip.

It's as un-appealing as the first one to me :)
But i am glad y'all who like it gets this "second chance" at a Chokwe!

I like it a lot! It's cool to see the final product lines up with the little bit of info we were given during the prototyping and testing phase. I also like seeing that Spyderco will be supporting the Keep A Child Alive Organization with proceeds from this knife. This is a very generous gesture from Spyderco

I really don't mind the laminate CF scales. It has the strength of G10, the aesthetics of carbon fiber and helps keep costs down. :spyder:

Looks cool, and I generally love to see more thinner-blade-stock knives!
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Love it! Its the only new knife I pre-ordered. Exactly what it should be. The only thing I would have changed is the steel... 20cv has too much chromium for my liking, but otherwise exactly what I was hoping for!

I like it. This is probably my most anticipated model right now. Bring it on.

Glad they kept the wire pocketclip & compression-lock. Was hoping for CTS-XHP, but I'm just happy it's not S30V. Definitely on my want list.

I agree- kind of wish it was just G10 and XHP to keep the cost down.. I feel like price point is going to keep a lot of people from picking this one up

It’s 2020 why are we still using fake carbon fiber?

Otherwise looks like a sweet knife.

It's real. Just a very thin layer of CF laid on top of g10

Funny, the knife I thought it would really go along nicely with is your Rhino Michael ;) :D

Definitely.
A Para 3 TB (thin blade) would be awesome :D
Opinel has thinner blades and they also do to break or bend so easy... :/
