I was persuaded 99% by you Wartstein! I use to carry a SE Mariner in the service and forgot how great a SE blade can be. The Endela SE FFG is a great cutting tool. It would be a great first SE model for anyone to try out SE.
That makes me even more glad you like it!!! :)
And yes, perfect "first SE model"! I know I repeat myself, but the Serrations in this are really just not too agressive at all, so for me it often feels like a "better plain edge" than a "teeth-monster"...
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)
The Straight Spine Stretch fills the same niche for me, I think. The Endela is a great size, but I just prefer the pointy tip + the handle ergonomics of the Stretch.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.
Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Right, both great choices... and length-/thicknesswise virtually the same in size. Really comes down to personal preference, I love (and have...) both. Different, but for me both perfect ergos. Endela carries slimmer though and: Comes in ffg SE...

One day I'll pick up another Spydie with some teeth; probably a Wharncliffe.

Not my favorite version (won´t get one personally), but I am glad for all who like it and also glad as I take this as an indicator that the Endela sells well enough to generally justify variants!! :)
Hope for more (blue handle...HAP 40...K390... )

I figure, as soon as the K390 series of the Endura family is actually announced, the choice "YES, will certainly get one" will see some more votes...

I do have the base model, and it is just fine, it is what it is... but on that platform I'm pretty much done until they release some steels that are more interesting, certainly k390 is gonna rock, and I will buy a Delica, Endela, and Endura in k390, if they release 4V, Cruwear, or Rex45, I will also be all about it... but for now, that family is on hold for me... I did buy the KW exclusive cpm-s90v Delica which I really like, but that's going to be it... for now...

SE or PE?

Great, but still only second-best choice... :D (just kidding, enjoy it! :) )
(But what actually IS "new" in the Endela on that platform (other than Wharnies) is exactly: You CAN get it in ffg SE)... and that´s something more noticeble in practical use than most "steel upgrades" would be imho...)

Well good sir, I must confess, that while that is completely obvious, it has never occured to me before you pointed it out.... I do have a partially serrated Endura in my 7-day rotation (see pic) and I really do like having the serration available quite frequently.... I think I am going to have to swoop an SE Endela and see how I like it.... This is my current 7-day, although my P4 K390 is missing from the fray....

Cool pic, I´d take Endura, Shaman and Manixes (Manices?!) :)
! I had a partially serrated Endura once, and while I liked it, the serrations on the Endela are a LOT better!! Shallower, less agressive and ground into ffg (and that´s what makes the Endela unique in the Endura families SE members! (Other than Wharnies)!
Give it a try (Endela SE), you´ll see.... :)

That is fascinating to hear, I certainly agree with you on the Endura partially serrated blade, the serrations are very agressive... So not a Para3 fan I gather? Those two have 2 of my 4 favourite steels, Rex4 & 4V, which I do plan on replacing with Shaman's of each here in the near future.... anyhow, I must say, the FFG sounds very appealing... it looks like ebay has them brand new for $70, shipped... hard to aruge with that. I will procure one in the next few weeks and get back to you with a full analysis....

Looking forward to you reporting back! I have no doubt whatsoever you'll be amazed by the cutting performance of the Endela SE...

You got it! Do you know off the top of your head if there are any after market scales available yet?
For the Endela? Sorry, but I don't know... though I am sure the two European custom scale makers (I'm from Europe) I'm aware of could and would certainly make some on request.
