Sal, can we please get a Para 3 lightweight in grey/maxamet please?

The para 3 LW is quickly becoming one of my most carried and used knives. It’s just...wonderful!

I have each iteration of the current lightweight maxamet options and love them, but a para 3 LW in the grey/maxamet treatment would be just about my perfect knife. I’d literally buy 4 of them just for me.

I have never asked anything of Spyderco, but this is one request I can’t get out of my head. I hope this is in the works!

I'm game. Has anyone dyed a Grey FRN knife yet? B-)
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Well to be fair the only thing they’d need to do is color the FRN differently.

They already make para 3 blades in maxamet. All of the p3 blades are interchangeable. They already have the mold and make para 3 LW scales. So really it boils down to making some of the scales they already make, but in grey. And then slapping a blade they already make into the scales.

It’s not like I’m asking for a whole new model in a whole new steel. I’d love to see it happen!

I too find myself carrying the Para 3 lw more often than any other knife I own, especially since I work in an office.

I'll be first in line for a grey/Maxamet.

It will more than likely happen seeing as how it's such a popular model. If not, I'd be shocked.

Why make it exactly the same as the G10 version? Need to get creative...

Because it would follow the same logical progression of the other maxamet/LW models. The native, manix 2, and then para 3 LW. All in grey FRN and maxamet.

It would be a production piece. Leave it up to the sprints and exclusives to be creative.

I’d much rather have availability than creativity. A nice creative knife means nothing to me if I can’t actually get my hands on it.

Not trying to bash you...but if you carry your LW because you work in an office, what the heck would you need Maxamet for!?

Nobody needs Maxamet, anymore than people need a Lamborghini. It's just frickin Sweet and very enjoyable to use and carry.

I want so use a Maxamet knife. To experience the steel and also to see how it sharpens.

I like variety and experience and diversity.

If it's only about need I never would have bought a Spyderco, because my first SAK would fulfill all my knife needs.

Does anyone really NEED Maxamet?

No, but I'm a collector and tend to buy many different variations of the same knife in different steel and handle material/color. The Maxamet with the grey scales just really looks good to me aesthetically too.

Really a silly question.

Oh, and even though it's an "office" it is still a lumber yard and I still cut more than just tape or an apple.

I cant say I NEED Maxamet, but I enjoy the heck out of it. It’s my favorite steel Spyderco offers. I’ve had every model it is available in. Although currently just the pm2 and native as I sold the para3 and manix. I enjoy the wear resistance it offers. I carried my pm2 from dec1st until yesterday. Used it everyday. A ton of cardboard. Not so much as a strop or anything to touch it up. It will still shave arm hair. Native hasn’t needed any touch ups in almost a year. Both are set around 20dps off a med grit(supposedly 280) Norton crystalon stone.

I would 1000% jump on a para3 frn lw Maxamet too. Make it fluted cf with the same partial liner for the comp lock and I would sell my soul to have one.

And a side note to add, my cat is named Maxamet because of my affinity for this steel.

Within a day of receiving my Para3 LW I had swapped blades with my Para3 Maxamet, they haven't swapped places since... :)
