Damascus Shaman anyone?
I think this would be an unbelievable knife if Spyderco made one. it might crash the Internet if they did though.

Funny I've been fantasizing about a different fancy Shaman the past couple days.

I think a bolstered Shaman might have broader appeal? I'd prefer that myself. Cruwear, micarta and nickel silver or stainless bolsters. Wonder how much weight that would add? Could maybe go for end caps too, but maybe just bolsters.

I think either/ both might sell. Curious what pricing would look like?

How about a bolstered Shaman with a Damascus blade?
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Where do I insert my card?
I like the idea of the bolsters. I also think the size of the Shaman lens itself to a nice sized Damascus blade.

I had the Crucarta, passed it along to someone deserving. I didn't care for the knife, I'll pass on future variants.

A titanium bolster for possibility of anodization randomization would be cool. Maybe brass or copper to change balance. Also different optional micartas (paper, linen, burlap) in differing colors. Spyderco could offer 3 or so different micarta insert variants & the rest of the 10 scale variants would be subcontracted to an outside company. They would also supply varying woods & carbon fibers.
Then the blades. The blades would come in many differing variants, mule team style.

Lol. My dream is to see a shaman with Damascus blade and contoured and milled out titanium scales or with some nice wood scales or perhaps canvas Micarta or even a PAKKA wood variant.

If it’s not obvious, I am holding onto funds to be in a position to pick one of these bad boys up whenever they appear.

That being said, if I can’t pick one up due to a sprint run as they are often sold out, I will have to look elsewhere for my big folder.

I contemplated the Endura and the Delica in Damascus but the reviews of the blade were less than stellar. Really hoping a nice mirror finished Damascus on the shaman would be ideal.

Thanks for your input everyone. Hopefully this info will get to the people who make the big bucks and the decisions. It certainly is very cool that Sal pops in and out on occasion. I don’t know of any other corporation owners who interject into platform discussions with the customers.

Oh **** yeah! I don’t own a Shaman yet but really hope to pick one up soon.

If Spyderco released one with milled titanium scales does anybody think it might be a legit benchmark knife?
Are there any other Spyderco models that have been done in Damascus besides the Delica and Endura?

Oh I forgot about the Native. I have to say I think the Shaman in Damascus would be much more compelling.

Ti bolsters with pakkawood and a stainless damascus blade... Hmm... That sounds like something I don't need but will definitely buy at least twice :p

Wouldn't the DLC hide the beautiful Damascus pattern?

So I'm looking into working with some custom makers to perhaps get a reblade done, and buying the damasteel alone is pretty pricey, in the 150-200 range depending on pattern.

Definitely gives some insight into why Spyderco might be hesistant - folks already complained about the Shaman's cost. A Damasteel sprint might break 500.

Well, yes.... and since the blade would most likely be made of a core steel (S30V or whatever) plus Damascus layers, the latter would really do nothing for the (cutting) performance, but just for the looks (what actually CUTS would be the core steel).
So DLC imho would make no sense here, since those looks were gone.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)
