Got around to looking at both of mine. Gotta send one back. The whole tang/flat area of one of them is completely discolored. Almost looks burnt. It doesn’t wipe off, and it’s not patina. Never seen anything quite like it to be honest on finished knife.

I’ve made quite a few knives in s90v, and it looks a lot like when you grind in one spot too long and overheat the steel.

Only one of them is like that. Hopefully I can exchange before they sell out.

Man, can’t believe that made it out! That’s unfortunate.

Wow, it's actually ground that way?? Do you have any Flitz to try and clean it up with?

It didn’t come off when I lightly touched it with a rust eraser. I didn’t want to try anything else because I had made up my mind at that point that I was going to exchange.

It is no longer “my” knife at that point so I stopped. Called KW this morning and already have an RMA. Hopefully the replacement is better!

Dang, that's unfortunate

Was hoping it was regular frn slabs over blue ss liners so that a simple g10 slab would still have blue showing

Mine arrived in the mail today. It is perfect. IDK if Spyderco put the best guy on the sharpening wheel or what? This thing is a razor.

Mine arrived today. It's awesome. Now they just need to make the Para 3 LW in this exact configuration.

I was curious, I posted a pic of mine on page 3, and unfortunately I had wiped the amazing amount of of oil off the inside scale off before I took the pic, has anyone else observed the same excessive oil inside? -- and @ JohnAPA, yes indeed mine was a razor as well... however I received my Sage 5 LW today, and it blew the doors off every Spydie, and every knife I've ever purchased as far as out of the box sharpness... just wow!

Got mine the other day. Appears fine. Was a little worried about the blue scheme, but it's not a problem. The backspacer looks like blue FRN and the blue paint on the inside of the FRN scales is hardly noticeable unless you're squinting at it.

I would have gone with a red, yellow, or orange backspacer, and passed on the scale touches; but variety is ok with me.

Plain black FRN with a black clip and screws would have been exceptional.

(hint, hint.)

So, the blue stainless steel liners were a lie then? I thought the pictures showed standard liners.

It's kind of disconcerting that they aren't able to correctly describe their own exclusive.

The black FRN has a blue liner. It’s not talking about the steel liners.

He knows. What he’s referring to is the fact that the site says it has “blue stainless steel liners.”

The site is incorrect, or was. They might have fixed it.

So just as an FYI for everyone the blue lining is just painted on. I scraped part of mine off.

So if you're not a fan of the blue on the inside you could just scratch it off and have black FRN scales.

Painted? That is kinda.....eh? I was under impression that the blue is a actual liner (thin G10, another FRN....) and I was very surprised that they have technology to do it with FRN scales....

Nope. It's just an applied coating of some type. You can flake it off with your finger nail if you try.

I am not that stoked about it either, but I like the knife enough to look past it. I love the delica and I love s90v for a user. Much prefer it over 110v because it holds an edge almost as long but takes less time to sharpen.

Wish I wasn't painted like that, though. :o

Here is where I scraped it away. Feels just like some type of paint.

After seeing the real picture from Knifeworks I was tempted to say that the blue on the interior simply looked like paint... but never would have expected it to actually be the case here!

Even though I didn't buy one (glad I didn't now), I would have preferred it just be left bare black FRN opposed to being half assed with paint...

I genuinely hope we don't see another gimmick like this again. :o

Yeah....I'm not too stoked on it. I'm glad I got a couple of them still, but I really hope this is a one and done type of deal. I would have preferred just straight black, plain old FRN also.

The blue back spacer does appear to be blue FRN. That's a plus, I guess.

Well, if the paint can flake off, I might just toss it in some stripper and see if the paint clears out.
