Salty 2 Two

Post by Hobnob »

Yep, My number 2 choice for daily carry is the Salt 2 (SE) . The Delica holds the number 1 spot. What I find interesting is that it is not talked about much in this forum.

For my use it is ideal. The size is perfect, it's rust proof and very light weight. Thoughts?

My Salt 2 is the SE Wharncliffe version. It’s become one of my favorite Salt knives.

The Tasman salt SE is on my list, but got bumped back by the pac salt SE this year. As much as I love my delicas, and have come to appreciate H1 in SE, it's really only a matter of time.

Get one year ago. Adore the handle, ergos and lightness. Not a big fan of the H1 SE:( After two months I bought a Delica Wharncliffe. Imediately fall in love with that blade shape. So much better for my EDC tasks. Swap the blade and its not leaving my pocket. Plain edge wharnie in ultralight package. My perfect EDC:)
If there is something like that;)

I don't have a 2 yet, I'm sure I will, but Salt 1 PE, SE, Tasman Salt and Pac Salt are all regular carries. I love them all.

I really like them, but wish the grind was higher. A little wedgy in apples. The wharncliffe SE is awesome.

My Hap40 wharnie blade is in the yellow handle. Quite nice.

The salt2 se is one of my favorites. I carry a dragonfly or chaparral more often, but the salt2 would probably be one of the last knives I would part with.

A lightweight, rust proof, easy to maintain, delica sized knife. Can leave it in a vehicle indefinitely, and it will still be usable when you need it.

I really sincerely wish my hand fit these handles better because I really like the Salt 2. It would be one of my main carry knives if the ergos worked better for me. I gave one to my buddy and he has beat it to death and it still locks up solid.

I have a yellow handled Salt 2 SE wearing an MXG Gear deep carry clip that is one of my favorite knives. I carry it while trail running, doing yardwork, going to the beach, and it's my go-to beater knife that takes anything I can throw at it. Much love for the Salt 2 for sure!

Glad to see some love for the Salt 2. I have quite a few larger ones, Manix 2, Para 2, and Pac salts. But the Salt 2 or Delica end up in My front left pocket because of the size.

For those that don't like the yellow, that can be changed. Mine is now a Denim blue thanks to Rit Dye. This one also has Sal's mark on it which means it is of recent production.

I have two of the Salt 2. One in serrated and one in PE and I love them both. I feel like the handle update was a big improvement over the salt 1 and added strength and rigidity to the handle. Both of mine make excellent EDC knives and both get carried on the kayak sometimes when I don’t carry my Pacific Salt.

Hobnob, what color did you use to make denim blue? Most of the ones I've seen have turned more green.

I used the liquid Navy Blue. The longer you leave it in the dye the darker blue it gets. Used a Royal Blue on a Salt 1 and it came out Turquoise. They make a Denim Blue, but Navy gives a deeper blue.
