Spyderco Retro?
Spyderco Retro?
Does anyone else regret not picking up old school Spyderco's when they were available?
I deeply regret not picking up Chinook's 1-3 while they were available. I'm Canadian, and (not getting too political) those knives are basically impossible to get now, unless some other Canuck is willing to sell. I have 2 Chinook 4's. The power lock is rock solid, yet I wish I had at least one of those Golden back locks. If there is to be a Chinook 5, I wish that it be Golden made, with a backlock.
Apart from those Chinook's, I also wish I'd had the foresight to buy 3 or 4 of the original style Natives. Not that I hate the Native 5 (I have 2), but those S30V square jimp swedge Natives are awesome. I doubt I've used another folding knife as much as my original native.
Is there any real chance that we might see these older style knives again? Like I said, I'd buy a bunch of those Natives and every Chinook offered, but maybe I'm in the minority. I'd love to see more sprints/re-releases of older style knives.

Re: Spyderco Retro?
Sprints or maybe dealer exclusives are probably your only hope.

I wish I was alive when the spyderco renegade was available. However, I am extremely happy with the native chief.

Re: Spyderco Retro?
We REALLY need a throwback retro flash batch or sprint of the original C95 Manix with Cru-carta or 3V-carta! Keeping the original classic "dino jumping".
CRU-CARTA THE SEKI MODELS! AND BRING US THE DODO-FLY!
Re: Spyderco Retro?
There are so many different models from the past that I regret not buying when they were readily available! A few that come to mind are knives like the Leafstorm, Tuff and Chokwe.
Actually, thinking about it now, the Leafstorm is already halfway to a BladeHQ exclusive! Toss in some M4 and they would have themselves yet another winner!
It would have to be a Sprint run. The Flash Batch concept is for entirely new designs, which are then only ever produced in that initial configuration.

+1 For the Renegade! Classic Spyderco. That thing is beautiful. Be nice to see an updated Golden model full flat grind but lose the choil and bring that nice edge all the way back to the handle, contoured g10 like the Shaman and a nice snappy Golden back lock, excellent idea. :cool:glutofknives wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2019 8:24 pmI wish I was alive when the spyderco renegade was available. Hi Sal hope hope your well. I think the Renegade with no choil and a full flat or hollow grind would be swell :) I’m pretty sure it’s a 4” blade and that’s what I like nothing against choils I like them BUT prefer something different in the Renegade.

Original ATR with integral Ti comp lock, steel changed to Vanax Superclean, please, please, please. Calypso Jr. with the swedge blade spine and liner-less, polished, black Micarta handles. Upgrade the steel from AUS-8 to something more contemporary, please.
Re: Spyderco Retro?
Would love to see a Rookie in K390! :spyder:
And I guess while we're at it, a new version of the Leafstorm would be very much welcomed.

Re: Spyderco Retro?
I’ve often felt like I missed the ‘golden’ era of Spyderco designs. Not at all a knock on recent and current models, lots to like but some of those oldies really speak to me.
The thought of resurrecting some of the classics with modern steels, grinds etc is exciting.
