How about the Ikuchi? It's considerably less expensive than the Spydiechef and is pretty classy, and good for slim carry I reckon.

+1 for the Chaparral. It's a great knife for non-knife people and knife people alike. The CF version is my favorite and often my dress up carry as well as EDC. Still looks like new despite being carried loose with my keys hundreds of times.

Sage 5 is a good size knife and has the nice Carbon Fiber look. That is probably what I would go with to just keep it simple because you can't go wrong with a Delica.
More CBBL please!

Ikuchi is certainly gentlemanly in the pocket, but might be a bit scary when deployed to non knife folks.

I do dig the chaparral. I really like xhp, and the carbon fiber or raffir noble are certainly fancy enough. Though I also enjoy my frn version.
Current Spyderco: Native 5 LW s35vn; Delica zdp; Caly 3.5 zdp/CF; Chapparel FRN cts xhp; Southard 204p; Kapara s30v; Ikuchi s30v; Spydiechef lc200n, Waterway Lc200n; Manix 2 LW 20cv

Past Spyderco: Endura zdp; Manix 2 LW s110v; Paramilitary 2 s30v

I’m going to take a different tac, here. Each one will have different needs and circumstances. I’d get the a Dragonfly Salt serrated edge with their names engraved from knifeworks. Or, regular black Dragonflies withe their names.

This would give them something extremely late I could be carried even in a suit pocket, or if it would be suitable for bluejeans. It would give them something that is a regular pocket knife and not too big so I as to be socially unacceptable.

I will to my previous suggestion of the McBee, the Chaparral and pakkawood Knife Center exclusives are great options too.

How many groomsmen are there?
What's the budget?

I would get something medium sized, light ones.

Dragonfly
Tenacious lightweight
Chaparral frn

UK Penknife. Very discreet & a well-done slipjoint is always classy (and if he wants a more premium model, he can get the version in S110V).

Don't get me wrong, the Spydiechef is a fine knife that I would personally love to get as a gift, but I don't know if it's the first knife I would choose as a groomsman's gift... a bit too imposing, in my mind, especially if you're gifting it to a non-knife person.

I meant what you know!

I think a dragonfly is really cool. Id probably opt for initials engraved over name.

The other day it was down to $175! I would have snagged it had I not gone so crazy with knives the past couple weeks, and 2 in 3 days the day before I saw that :p

Last I saw, knife center still has the discontinued stepped titanium chaparrals for $200 (original map was north of 300) in grey or blue. Really nice little gent knife. If that's too pricey, the rafir nobel is also beautiful and is significantly cheaper.

Apparently Fradon Lock has their carbon fiber delicas marked down to under $130...awesome deal on a higher end Delica. Very gentlemanly.

Edit: maybe a bit large for a "dress knife", but the Smock could be a unique and very cool choice, too, especially if you'd like a choice that's a flipper rather than a backlock like the chap and delica.
