I like to carry fixed blades in cold weather, though I don’t think my jacket today covered much of anything :o I also normally carry much smaller knives, but lately I’ve been surprised by how well bigger ones carry vs what I expected before I ever carried one.
I’m currently in a faithful relationship with a Manix LW. She’s been everything a man could want.
I’m only human though and I admit I’ve fraternised briefly with other models. I’ve mostly managed to keep my fingers out of other spydie holes though.
So far today I've carried AUS-6 (Jester) and VG-10 (Kiwi & Stretch). Yesterday I carried those same knives and used VG-10 (Stretch), MBS-26 (K05 and modified K04), and some mystery stainless steel in a steak knife I got 50+ years ago for cigarette coupons that's my go-to knife for cutting food in frying pans and on ceramic plates. :o :)
Actually THREE steels (knives) today, rather untypical (many) for me:
CTS XHP (Chaparral FRN, at home in the morning) H1 (Pac.Salt SE, while trailrunning) VG10 (Endela SE, for the rest of the day)
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)
I have almost no rotation these days, it's been LC for most of this year and it was H1 for about 2 years before that. I guess you can throw Cruwear into the mix but I haven't really had a chance to use it yet.
LC has honestly ruined my taste for most steels aside from some sprints I'd like to see. For my daily uses I think this is the steel for me.
Yesterday was an S35vn day. Brown pm2, and Cold Steel AD10. Currently waiting in surgery pre-op in my PJ's so no knife but my cargo pants are loaded with PE Pacific Salt for when i get out.
