Straight Spine Stretch

Found this on my front porch this morning...

Would have been a very pleasant suprise whenever it arrived, all the more so when Romeo dragged me out of the house at 5:30 am on this bitterly cold for mid November in SC day for his morning constitutional. Didn't have my reading glasses with me, so I had no idea who the package was from or what was in it until we got back home. Opened it up and was overjoyed.

I think the ivory FRN looks great, I like it much better than the stark white used on the Tom Sachs Delica, Endura, and D'fly some years back. I suspect it's also still light enough that those who prefer another color can RIT dye it just about any shade they wish. And, as much as I've always liked the Stretch blade shape, I think the straight spine version is extremely attractive.

For those who were concerned that the straight spine blade would add to the weight, and despite what the catalog says, it does not. The black FRN VG-10 Stretch 2, BRG FRN ZDP-189 Stretch 2, and this version all weight exactly the same 106 grams, 3.75 oz. on my scale. I don't claim my scale is 100% accurate, only that it's 100% consistent. The actual weights may be a gram or two lighter, or heavier, but the main point is that they're all identical.

Sincere thanks Sal, for this beautiful addition to my Stretch family.

Now the question is: how will you be able to use it without rubbing off Sal's note to you?? ;) :D

Like porcupines make love, very carefully. ;) :D

Seriously, been carrying it this morning, did use it once to cut open a plastic bag when I got home from grocery shopping. Will probably carry it, but use something else, until the ones I have on pre-order arrive. At that point this one will go in the display case, and I'll carry and use one of thsee.

I believe the signature and inscription are hand engraved on the blade and should be as permanent as the laser marks! :D

Regardless, I don’t think anyone would blame you for keeping that one pristine and proudly on display! I would most likely do the same! :D

Just for your info: The Stretch has virtually the exact same size as PM2 and Endela. In blade-, edge- and handlelength.
For me still a smaller knife ("regular" for me is Endura size), but not TOO small...

Thank you for info my fellow Austrian knife enthusiast.

Well that's a little smaller then I like my knives, around 4 inches is a sweetspot.

Yes, the Stretch 1 was "better" in that regard (shorter closed length, but still more edge than Stretch 2 or PM2).

But: EVERYBODY needs some version of the Stretch! Amazing ergos, plus backlock... :D

Oh ha! I thought it was written on with a wax pencil or something. But either way, I'd sure keep in on display! :p

I could imagine 4 inch Stretch, that would be so sweet, and of course with straight spine.

Off topic: I am not exactly from Austria, but since my country has a border with yours, I feel like a neighbor :D

Still kicking myself for not getting the Stretch 1 when it was around. Will definitely get this version. Straight spine + ergos for the win. Would love to see a run in K390!
