Interest in Manix 2 with CPM REX45

#1

Post by Bdubs808 »

CPM REX 45 has been the most elusive blade steel (for me and I'm sure plenty other people). I see the Manix 2 as an opportunity to spread some more of this fabled steel to Spyderco fans; the first 3 models released are overpriced on the secondary market, and many aren't willing to pay $300 for a PM2. Also, I believe the Manix looks great with orange scales. Burnt orange is pleasing on the HAP40 models I own, and treasure.

On a side note, if not on the Manix than perhaps the new bombshell Military 2?..

Really hoping for a LW FRN version. REX45 has been awesome, only eclipsed by K390 for me.

Manix is the model I'm holding out for to get the Rex45 treatment...just hopefully no time soon. I've got a few great knives recently (St Nicks Shaman, 204P Military and a Cruwear Shaman in the mail!) Waaaaaaaaaay over my knife budget the past month or so. But yes, I'd like the burnt orange with G10. I have the LW model in BD1 and find those scales a little slippery.

Yes please! Textured G10 scales for me. Burnt orange or anything besides black.

I'd be in for that. I have an M4 Manix, but I'd grab a REX45 as well.

I've been waiting patiently for the Rex 45 Manix, and it's the natural next choice in the Rex 45 line. I've regretted selling my M4 Manix, so this would be nice to fill the void.

I think LW FRCP Burnt Orange would look really cool, especially next to the HAP40 siblings from Seki, Japan.

This would be an insta-Buy for me. The Manix 2 is my favorite knife. I’m chasing different steels as well, and I do not own a knife with REX 45. I’m watching for the Shaman rosewood/REX45, but I would prefer a Manix 2 rosewood/REX45.

If I was gonna buy another Manix 2, then yeah. But I've got a couple right now that have a lot more service in them before they need replacement.

This was my only real wish, for 2019. A Manix 2 in Rex 45, and I'd sure be happy with Burnt Orange G10 as well. That only seems right, now.

I talked to Mr Gesser last Fall about this very thing. He said they did have enough of the Burnt Orange G10, and Rex 45 left. To make another run of something. They just had not decided at the time, on which model yet.

My guess is now, with hindsight. That those sheets of Rex 45, were too thick to be used for a Manix 2. I suppose that material went to, or is going to, a Shaman run. (Shaman, Military, PM 2, Para 3, all using the same sheet stock) But that doesn't mean Sal or Eric won't order in some more, for a Manix 2, for the Win! :spyder:

I also am hoping for a run with K390 as well. The Manix 2 has been lagging a bit, in the new steel department.

Is Sal hiding, or saving all of the good stuff, for his knife designs? :D

Well, if they need to order more rex45 for a manix run anyhow, might as well make a big order and throw a rex45 para3 lw in there as well!

I was just thinking today I need a tough lightweight. I'd be ok with Rex 45 or k390
