At least DLT Trading is attempting level the playing field to some extent. I applaud their efforts.

I just hope they have a plan to combat people trying to game the lottery with multiple entries!

Negative. Smoky Mountain Knifeworks and Knifeworks.com are two different companies.

Is the DLT lottery page not working for anyone else?

ETA never mind, had to "lower shields" in Brave.

Thanks for clarifying Tom! I was definitely going to stand up for KnifeWorks, one of my favorites!

I applaud DLT. :) I had it in the cart 3 times to no avail. :( At least there won’t be any chaos.

Lottery seems not to favor those who have the time to be glued to their computer all the time nor those that are willing to throw additional funds at it ...

Also, if you enter once, or five times, with say a thousand people trying to get them; your chances are still less than 1%.

Really starts to take any control you may have had out of the picture, other than knowing someone in the right place that will extend a favor.

However, even though it may level the playing field, I don't like it because so many will not get a knife they are interested in.

I agree with the comments re the para 3 lw red frn m390 ... production in sufficient quantity so that its availability is good for approximately two days sounds like a much more agreeable solution.

Unless bladehq have a lottery like dlt, it will be a repeat like all the previous releases.
Sooooo many people/members will miss out again.
Maybe Spyderco can do a survey before manufacturing the knife model re the popularity of the knife model.
I'm just throwing-in an idea or solution ????? Maybe there is no solution ??

How do you know how many red Para 3 LWs were made? Jordan said it was a decent-sized run but how many is that? Sal has said that most sprint and exclusive runs are 1200 pieces. I have no way of knowing for sure but I kind of doubt that Para 3 was more than that. It just wasn't nearly as popular as this Shaman was. So it lasted longer longer than the high-demand exclusives.

I get a kick out of all the people kicking and stomping about not getting this Shaman. Sorry for the disappointment but it's a limited production sprint run. Not everyone will get one. The next cool knife will come at some point and this Shaman will be old news.

Spot on! I was starting to think the same thing last week. Sal said himself, that other Shaman sprints are in the works. Who's to say one of those won't be the holy grail Shaman?? This thread has been a trip, that's for sure.

As the hype on this fades, I'm already starting to hear again the usual Shaman complaints/justifications for not buying one....

1) the nub hits my finger
2) it's too expensive for what it is
3) there's not enough flash or it's too workmanlike
4) it's too big/heavy

it's certainly possible that a chunk of demand was FOMO, and therefore I expect to see a number of these trickle out into the secondary market within the next month.
EDC Rotation: PITS, Damasteel Urban, Shaman, Ikuchi, Amalgam, CruCarta Shaman, Sage 5 LW, Serrated Caribbean Sheepsfoot CQI, XHP Shaman, M4/Micarta Shaman, 15v Shaman
Fixed Blades: Proficient, Magnacut Mule
Special and Sentimental: Southard, Squarehead LW, Ouroboros, Calendar Para 3 LW, 40th Anniversary Native, Ti Native, Calendar Watu, Tanto PM2
Would like to own again: CQI Caribbean Sheepsfoot PE, Watu
Wishlist: Magnacut, Shaman Sprints!

Those sure are some sour grapes ain't they? I've missed far more sprints than I've caught. I'm overjoyed that I got one of these but there are others that I wanted just as bad that I watched slip through my fingers. Life goes on. I have no doubt there will be more very desirable Shaman sprints.

I bought one, but the color of the natural Micarta looks like a Old Lady's Bra.

I love the nub, money comes and goes, it's a sexy beast, it's perfectly balanced and fits like a glove.

I LOVE my Shaman and will not part with it for love nor money :p
