My current leaning is both green and denim blue, with two different steels.

Green with K390 and denim blue with 4v, then?

Sounds awesome! OD Cruwear and Denim K390 (wasn't Bohler supposed have the batch done right about now?? :) ) would be great choices and please the masses for sure. I'd still love to see a Delta 3V Black (or Burgundy) Micarta Shaman at some point. Had my new Delta 3V Carothers HDFK out there today with my Shaman and his heat treat takes 3V up a notch, and makes it more "folder-friendly" for the 3V folder naysayers.

Re: Sal the Micarta Man - Shaman flavors poll
I like green micarta, I like the new ranger green k390 pm2 combo, but micarta always gives me that harder use vibe, and 4v seems like a good fit. I love k390 too though, and CruWear is definitely a fav. I'd be happy with pretty much all possible combinations.
Re: Sal the Micarta Man - Shaman flavors poll
Did someone say it was going to be made in a left handed version?
Denim, Cruwear, Left-handed.
Anything else... no thanks.

So a K390/Green would be a BBS exclusive right? The color/steel combos are vendor specific?Baron Mind wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 11:26 pmI like green micarta, I like the new ranger green k390 pm2 combo, but micarta always gives me that harder use vibe, and 4v seems like a good fit. Re: Sal the Micarta Man - Shaman flavors poll
I’ve been wanting to try some micarta. I like the look of burlap more than the other kinds, and i may try to make some scales for a Manix one of these days...
Re: Sal the Micarta Man - Shaman flavors poll
Blue denim micarta and DLC 4V would look stunning.

Im super curious, what do you prefer about the back lock as compared to the compression lock?Wartstein wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 10:41 amA denim Micarta, S30V.... and backlock Shaman would be an instant buy for me! (Honestly, and not intending to derail this thread, I think the Shaman is such a great model especially ergonomicwise, that there would be a market for both a comp lock and a backlock version, for those are the two most preferred lock types it seems)

OD Micarta and either Cruwear or K390! After all the K390 hype, I'd love to try it!

I have no dog in this fight as I have no interest in Shaman sized knives any more ....
I will suggest however that Spyderco considers what the other guys refer to as “unlimited, limited” for sprints ie production is limited for a period of (time say a year) but within that time Spyderco can manufacture an unlimited quantity depending on demand.
That way, hopefully, the feeding frenzy is not as bad, there are less disappointments (assuming people can wait for 2nd batches) and the scalpers are not making more money than the dealers. Collectors still have a collectors item due to the limited production timeframe. It’s not that different to dealer exclusives that can be re-run at the dealers request.

I voted blue cruwear but would also buy green cruwear. Please make enough to over supply the scalpers!
Re: Sal the Micarta Man - Shaman flavors poll
Voted for other; gray micarta and Maxamet. Why not go crazy and just do Maxamet?
Re: Sal the Micarta Man - Shaman flavors poll
Not a bad idea @psquared.
Another option would be a 1 week preorder window with a chance to pick from a list of options. Sort of like the custom shop concept but with more producible numbers than a bunch of 1-offs.
Carothers has been mentioned. He has a small shop and uses this system on high demand models to keep things cost effective while still meeting demand (aka satisfying frustrated customers who can’t get the knife they want during normal sales frenzies. Sound familiar?).
Busse does something similar. Obvious downside is 2x the administrative work.
I still like Sprints too. While they can be frustrating, they are fun, and a brilliant marketing strategy.

Re: Sal the Micarta Man - Shaman flavors poll
On reflection, I think a 2nd run of cruwear with a different color micarta makes the most sense - let everyone who couldn't get the current model get one. If my KC pre-order doesn't come through, then I'd definitely want another cruwear version over anything else. Going straight to a new steel/micarta color combo would probably just generate the same frenzy all over again, unless it could be produced in much higher quantities.

Re: Sal the Micarta Man - Shaman flavors poll
Either handle color and Cruwear for the unmet demand + 4V because it is awesome and even fewer of those were available.
Spyderco takes care of its customers, everyone should remember that!

Re: Sal the Micarta Man - Shaman flavors poll
Can we add an option for the whole reason this poll exists? There was a HUGE demand for Cruwear and brown micarta. That is what I want. LOL
