Is there support for an LC200N Street Beat?

#1

Post by Naperville »

Cold Steel's Lynn Thompson made a movie the other day regarding his "plastic" knives. What I found interesting was that he mentioned placing one of the knives in the shower where it would be handy to have a weapon.

I'd much prefer a Spyderco LC200N Street Beat in that situation. What do you guys think? Would you be interested in that sort of full production knife?

I never get in on sprint runs, so I'm not necessarily asking for that, I'd be asking for a regular production of these knives.

what about a waterway? personally, i can't imagine anyone but lynn thompson needing a knife in the shower though. i have carried my pacific salt into public showers at the beaches here in hawaii, but only because i'm already wearing it in my waistband.

I rarely have the occasion to slay a pig carcass while washing up after a long day.

If I ever found the need to carry a sharp bladed object in the most unnecessary place, it might be the H1 Ark. It has more bite than Irish Spring.

If I recall correctly, the ARK fixed blade was designed for that exact reason. Self defense for military personal while using the shower.

Edit: Added description from Spyderco -
"The ARK—or “Always Ready Knife™—is a purpose-designed personal-defense knife conceived by U.S. Army combat veteran John Shirley and his friend Sam Owens. While deployed to Afghanistan, Shirley learned that an alarming number of U.S. personnel were falling victim to sexual assault, particularly while showering. Drawing from his knowledge of the Japanese martial arts and with the help of Owens’ skills as a craftsman, they developed the ARK as a lightweight self-defense tool that can literally be carried anywhere."

The ARK already fills that roll well enough, that exact situation driving it’s design.

LC200N Street Beat, it's like you "read" my mind. :p

I don't need a shower knife, but I really want an LC200N version in white micarta. Or bare steel, so we can make our own handles.

I’d personally rather see one in M4, that would be cool. But really anything would be cool, it’s a great model.

The Spyderco Street Beat fixed blade is small at a 3.5 inch blade, but it would suffice. It has a great handle for holding on to when wet. Looking for something 3.5 to 4.5 inches in LC200N.

The Spyderco WaterWay does not have a grip that looks very good for someone in the shower with a head or hands full of soap.

I really want a wharnie ARK. As for the Street Beat I can't seem to figure out a carry method I like so it would really depend on price.

Meh, vg10 is stainless enough for me and I have no use for a knife in the shower.

This doesn't bode well for my desire...

As much as I like the Swick, the Street Beat always seems to outshine it.

I'll be waiting!

Seriously if someone tries to attack me in the shower I'm just gonna run full speed towards them and we'll see who the victim is.

Lance designed the knife specifically to be used with wet, bloody, slimy hands. The handle is very aggressively textured.

What I really need for the shower is a 1911 in LC200N. :)

The Waterway might have the grippiest scales of any Spyderco currently available. If there was any model that I would be confident using with soapy hands, it would be the Waterway.

The Street Beat handles are polished, which could possibly be the worst imagineable texture to hold on to with soapy hands.
