I got strung along by KC on a preorder before, and won’t go that route again. I kept hearing to be patient as they would be getting a few more shipment. Obviously it never came. Hopefully they are more cautious on allowing more pre-orders than they are likely to get allocated.

If I had a preorder at KC I would be hedging my bets and buying one from another source if the opportunity presents itself.

Sold out! :(
You must have just missed it. The were in stock, from what I saw, for only a few minutes.
KW has it up again as a pre-order, not sure what that means exactly.
Edit: no longer available

Have to assume they're getting multiple allotments and have more coming. I believe that's how distribution has worked in the past.

Yes, they are now letting you pay in full for a pre-order it seems. I guess they are filling out their stand by list.

I'm tempted to preorder from them because of how much I want to score one, but I refuse to preorder knives so I'll keep trying my luck somewhere else.

I put in a pre-order at KnifeWorks 10 minutes ago. Now they’ve taken that option off the page.

While I agree with all who said cruwear should be a production steel, I kind of think of a time when s110v and maxamet was limited. Maybe spyderco heard enough people suggesting to make those production steels. Now you can get both steels easily as they are not flying off the shelves. Some models in one or both steels are literally collecting dust at some retailers. Spyderco probably looked at that and said we'll stick the limitations
Every Steel Has Its Appeal

I could see larger sprint batches but making it production doesn't seem like the right business decision for Spyderco. We on this forum and other knife forums have a hard time stepping back and realizing the majority of Spyderco's customer's are not knife or steel junkys. They are just buying a tool and recognize Spyderco as a quality brand. They are likely clueless about the different steels and scale materials or just don't care and are buying based on a completely different decision making matrix. We should also just be happy with the fact that Spyderco is willing to cater to us as the minority customer base at all. Not a lot of companies left that are willing to do that.

If you just put in a pre-order today I would not bank on getting one. Pre-orders are great if you get in early but, depending on anticipated demand, I wouldn't bother after a couple days.

Odd situation with KnifeWorks today. They had this in stock for about 3 minutes but sold out. Then, some hours later added a preorder option which, I assume, also sold out.

Jeez watching everyone have to wait and wonder for these, I'd almost prefer the St. Nicks situation. You know in less than 5 minutes whether youre getting one or not.

I was thinking the same thing. Makes me wonder how many they had in the first run, and what they will get for the 2nd.

Guys keep in mind that often dealer get an initial small shipment and then receive a bigger shipment later.
