I would of posted some pictures but I’m not downloading another photo hosting thing. Be nice if the subforum was as easy as BF to add pictures.
Use postimage.org, browse pictures, click hotlink for forum, paste. That simple.

I didn’t have time to sit down and sharpen the rest of the edge this weekend but I’ll get it done sometime. Probably won’t be the next couple weeks either, next two weekends and following week I will be gone and on vacation finally! I used it to whittle some feathers and such this weekend, it’s pretty comfortable in the hand and did a good job. I’ll try to get some fish here in the next couple weekends and see how it does filleting fish.

Mail call for me, and my package from REC containing my Bow River arrived. :D As far as Spyderco fixed blades, I don't own many, and I carry the Serrata 99% of the time, as it does everything I need. (Though dad picked up a Waterway for kayaking on a whim, now I'm jealous and probably will follow suit :o ).

Size comparison to Serrata:

The fit and finish on my example is great, grinds are even and well done, and the G10 looks very well done and is finished/polished exceptionally well.

The sheath is simple and handsome and does it's job, which is good for me.

In my experience, the heat treat on :spyder: 's 8Cr13Mov is typically better than some I've used in other brands, so no worries there.

I think the knife is a homerun for Spyderco, especially as a budget/value product. $32 makes this a no brainier as far as I'm concerned. My non-knife-knut friends, who inevitably get a present in the form of a :spyder: from me usually get a folder like the Tenacious or a Byrd Raven. Many of them are the outdoors type, at least on a causal level, and carry a fixed blade camping or hiking, and keep the folder home for EDC. The Bow River is gonna supplant the above mentioned as a gift option for at least half of them. Heck, soon as some more stock starts trickling in, I know my dad, father in law, brother in law, and a couple uncle's will each be getting one for the holiday season. :D

In the meantime, I plan to strap her on the belt for the hike I'll be taking this weekend, do some whittling and such, and can't wait to see how she performs. Initial thought though: great job Phil and Spyderco with this little guy.

I also got mine from REC today. Spyderco has a winner here. I might get more as kitchen knives and gifts - when I can find them in stock.

Can we see the Bow River next to a Southfork?

Is the handle bigger on the Bow River?

It's smaller. I posted a pic on page 10. Can get a proper top-down comparison pic later if no one beats me to it.

Thank you!

Almost forgot, busy night. Preparing some banana peppers, etc, for lacto-fermentation and using the Bow River to do it all. Pulled out the South Fork for another quick shot:

Was gonna order one, but I have a road trip planned next month that's taking me by one of my favorite knife shops, so I'll pick one or two up then.

Wonder what else I'll come away with?

Here's a family portrait of of my trailing point knives. I am a really big fan of the form.

Also, I am amazed at how thin the Bow River is behind the edge. I measure it at about 0.018 to 0.020 bte. I ran it over the brown SM stones and it has a sticky sharp edge now.
