Here's the Serrated Spartan I got today. Really useful tool set. Probably will put plus scales on it and add the ink pen and straight pin plus the small screwdriver that fits into the corkscrew Image
Thanks to this thread, my replacement Spartan came in yesterday. Mine’s PE.

You’re so right, a useful tool set, and hardly thicker than a Lil’ Native.

Where do you source your scales?

So for years I’ve carried an Alox Vagabond on my keys and love it! Over those years I’ve considered getting a larger SAK many times but could never decide on a model. Just the other day I came across a Spartan that I had to have!

Now the problem is I’m not in love with the tool compliment. I’ve already decided I’ll turn the, useless to me, can opener into a clamshell package opener by giving it a bit of a gut hook with a pointy tip to pierce the packages. Similar to what I did to a Spey blade on my roughrider.

Now I’ll have to wait till it arrives, but pics seem to indicate that I won’t be able to easily turn the secondary pen blade into a sheepsfoot or coping due to the position of the nick but I’m hopeful. If not I’m considering adding serrations to one of the blades or something crazy like turning the main into a comb!
I just don’t get why they insist on having two very similar blades on so many models? Also why a can opener? How many ppl actually need or use one? I have a great one in my drawer, haven’t camped in years and even then I packed the one from the drawer. Also so many cans these days have a little tab to peel off the lid anyways. I guess backpackers might use em but are there really that many out there? I’m not saying eliminate them on all models but I just don’t see why so many include it.
Enough of my little rant, can’t wait for it to arrive!

SG, it looks like the toothpick and tweezer slots are both on the same side? Never saw that before! Is there a third slot on the other side?

Those are "plus" scales they include toothpick slot, tweezers slot, ballpoint pen slot, and straight pin slot. Really neat they come standard from the factory on certain 91 mm models like the Compact. I bought some extra scales and put them on all my 91mm models

I keep thinking I should get a Swisstool, but then my money keeps disappearing for something else.
They look like great tools though. One of these days...

This one has lived in my cars center console for the past 10 years! I've had it so long that I actually forget where and when I got it.

Its a 91mm Swiss Champ as far as I know.

Nice! Hope it goes well, looking forward to the results. You've done some scale swaps already, pretty easy?

Yes you just pry the scales off and reseat them with a vise. Be careful when prying the scales they will crack very easily. Pry from the side and slide the pry tool around and the scales should pop off

When I ordered the Spartan I mentioned, I also ordered a mini screwdriver for the corkscrew. It arrived ahead of the SAK so I decided to try it in my Leatherman Juice corkscrew and it fits! I just ordered another, lol!
