Can someone identify this Spyderco?

Post by reactioN »

This used to be my Grandpas, I’m guessing it’s somewhere around 15 years old but I could be completely wrong. Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum. Your Grandpa's knife is a C05 Standard and, more specifically, the Economy version of the Standard which was the only all steel Spyderco ever to use a clip that was integral with the handle. As for it's age, it's definitely more than 15 years old, more like 30 to 35.

Not exactly sure how to reply to you so I hope you see this, wow I figured it was pretty old but I didn’t think it was that old, but he has been gone now for 10 years, I also have a gerber dagger that was either his or my fathers that my dad told me is at least 30 years old, pretty crazy to think those knives are that old, ther gerber is in almost mint condition, as you can see this knife has been used quite a bit, thanks for the help it’s much appreciated!

Not exactly sure how to reply to you ....

If you want to reply directly to a post (and quote that post in your reply), just click on that "quotation mark" - icon in the right upper corner of a post.
The person you´re replying to will then also get an notification that you did (if he or she has activated the notification-function of course. I´d guess most members have).

Seems like it to me lol I’m only 25, and I feel like most people just buy 30 dollar knives that they use for a few years and either lose them or beat them to all **** and buy a new one, so that’s kinda why I said that lol but man for it to be 30-35 years “young” seems like a really long time to keep a knife lol at least to me that is! I know life was a lot different when my grandpa was young, with the Great Depression and all the wars and economy, I know a lot of people that grew up then always seem to hold on to anything they could for later use or no money for something else, also just seems like they would appreciate things much more than most kids/young adults my age.

Hah, 15 might still be wet behind the ears in human terms but in Spydie years not so much
