This addiction is costly, but you're located in Auburn, AL and can get some economic advice from the folks at the Mises Institute. What a hotbed of Austrian-school economic theory! For all I know, you're going to succeed George Reisman in synthesizing classicism, Austianism, and Bastiat into a deeper understanding of human economic action and its role in supporting living man qua man or be this generation's Murray Rothbard (or contemporary of Walter Block, Gene Callahan, Dominick Armentano, and Lew Rockwell). Or maybe none of that's your bag.

Anyways, there are some folks selling the stainless steel Native (C41, not C41BK, which is the Native with the FRN handle - also a great knife) and that might be your bag. If you need the plain-edge version, some folks can point you to other folks selling it.

They are very tough

Some like them best. They probably mark less easy than stainless!

FRN also probide a more secure grip than SS. On a 4" handle that can be significant depending on the size of your hands. You might want to try perusing a local dealer or show to get a feel for what you like best.

Welcome to the forum Andyjd. Pushing your limit to the max, with a little searching, the Stretch can be found for under $100 shipped. Great knife and the one found most often in my pocket. The front lock and 4 way mountable, removable clip allow everyone to find the carry style that suits them best. It packs a 3.5" blade but is only 4.25" closed, a very "efficient" design.

As Zrexxer observed, the stainless ATR is another option. The clip can be mounted for RH or LH tip up carry, but my sixty year old brain finds the compression lock less lefty friendly than the front lock, although others do seem to adapt to it. At 5" closed, it's a bit bigger in the pocket than the Stretch, another factor to consider.

The full size version of your Mini-Police, though a bit longer yet, at around 5.5" closed, is another possible choice, as would be the stainless versions of the Endura and Delica. These last three only have provision for right hand clip mounting. The Police is tip down only, the other two give you the choice of tip up or tip down carry.
