"Yojumbo" larger Yojimbo rumor

#1

Post by Bdubs808 »

So this Youtuber JT's knife life dropped some insight from his Blade Show experience at the Spyderco booth. He claims there was a Yojumbo proto, as well as PM2s with various new handle materials. Also he discussed a smaller Subvert, a Shaman with micarta, and a smaller Alexander design with a wheel flipper, amongst other exciting new models. He speaks about the Spyderco experience in the beginning of the video, no need to fast forward.

The latest episode of the Knife Nuts Podcast (I think it dropped yesterday). They also mentioned that knife and the Cru-Wear/micarta Shaman.

i’m curious and excited to see a new version of the yojimbo. it’s a strange model because i don’t like how it rides in my pocket and it’s not one of the most comfortable spydercos in hand, but it’s just so cool and fun to carry that i don’t care. it’s a piece of art. i’d still love to see a blacked out yojimbo salt, personally, but i’m looking forward to any new models.

That's a "Shut up and take my money" moment for sure.

I now live in a state with pretty much no knife restrictions. May as well carry a bigger version of my favorite knife.

That's awesome news. Mr. Janich is a great guy. Glad to see his designs receiving recognition.

Yep, it was like a 4.5" wider blade yojimbo. There were so many different scale/blade combos it was crazy. They had the infamous tanto which was so cool btw, wharncliff and others. The micarta/cruwear shaman was badass for sure and is green lit for production, hoping for late 2019 from what I was told. The Gareth bull/spyderco proto was prolli my favorite one from the proto cabinet for sure.

Name reminds me of the CRKT Jumbones which came out this year. I'd rather have a Yojumbo!

It would be cool to see this newer Yojimbo model. But over all, I have been pretty content with my standard Yojimbo2. Especially after reprofiling the edge to 12.5 dps

Would love to see a pic of this. Really need to make out to one of the blade shows. The convention center in San Diego would be an awesome place to hold one :D
